914World.com _ 914World Garage _ How big of a V8 will fit?

Posted by: HeloMech Sep 18 2009, 09:31 AM

ok, so now I've got this bright idea...

police interceptor... nobody seems to want it... however, it has LT1 5.7L in it. It's rated just under 300hp as I recall.

So... uh.... will it fit?

It's a small block Chevy, so probably. I do remember hearing a conversation at the ECC about LT1's with their reverse flow cooling etc. so I'm not 100 percent sure.

The reverse flow cooling would actually be an advantage! It will surely fit! Actually most anything will fit. There is a guy in Colorado that has a 455 olds or buick in his.

LT1 = cast iron block, aluminum heads of early style ports ... no gain except for the loss of 25 - 50 lbs of weight.

'94-'96 is the pin drive, reverse flow water pump .. big ass dude.

You want the Corvette or Camaro LT1 to get the aluminum heads. The Impala / Buick Roadmaster / Cadillac Fleetwood LT1's came with iron heads.
