SOLD
Wayne, why the heck are you selling?
responded via PM....
but just for the record, I'm not selling due to anything with the car... just the squishy bit that sits in the driver seat.
I saw this on craigslist and that it was your car. Good luck with the sale.
what are you going ti drive ti MUSR 11? I'm gonna tell Bill & Clay to kick your ass!
I'm just trying to simplify my life, get my affairs in order and such. I'm sure later in life I'll have another one...
Dan, we should get together for a drive before I sell it...
if I am off on the price, lmk. 8500 is approx what I put into the car in the past year(including the 5 lug parts), so I started there..
Looks like a nice ride.
That's a beautiful motor and the 2056 is the way to go...
Good luck with the sale but I hope you change your mind..
you guys are too kind. thank you.
I'm not selling because anyone's dying, or for financial reasons or divorce... I have stretched myself thin to do everything to the car I possibly could. but now, I look to the future and I see other things, besides the car that need my attention..., and I know it needs a paint job(paint is probably a 6/10) and seals. and after that, I still personally wouldn't get enough use out of it... I have enjoyed every minute, and I'm sure I'll have another one day. but for me right now, managing 3 cars is too much, esp when one never gets driven.. I'll probably find myself a fun daily driver once all the dust settles and my wife's car is paid for.
this way someone actually gets to have a lot of fun with this car, which is what I wanted all along... I had fun doing, learning and driving it. now someone else can.
it was asked, so I'm updating the ad... I'll sell the 5 lug parts with boxster rims and tires(michelins with about 90% left on front, 70% on rear) separately for $1500 obo, leaving the car for 7000 obo without the 5 lug parts... you can still have the smooth, primed targa top, and I have a few more parts and tools I won't need so they can go with the car too
http://tiny.cc/dznow
today is a good example of why I'm selling... this morning was 80, clear skies... telling me DRIVE...
but my back, friday traffic and my allergies said... take the car with A/C...
914 outvoted 3-2
BTW, I finished rebuilding the brembo brakes and mounting them on the 911 struts yesterday, the 5 lug conversion is now just a bolt on and go... and you'd still have the PMB rebuilt stock brakes if you ever wanted to fall back to 4 lugs.
just a
ok guys, I'm going to have to make a move sooner than expected. some new developments have come up and this is not just a pre-emptive strike anymore. if you are interested send me an offer/PM, and I'll try not to let the emotions of what I've put into the car interfere with making a sale.
sure, I'll take some pics of the 5 lug part...
it's 73 911 struts (blasted and re-painted)
new rotors,
new bearings, studs, spacers(22mm),
the brembo brakes, with new porterfield pads
rear hubs, with a set of new rear bearings, new rear rotors drilled for 5 lug
4 boxster wheels (2 16x7, 2- 16x6) with Michelin tires... the rears have a little life, and will probably pass inspection, the fronts are practically new.
the front struts, rotors brakes are all assembled and would just be a bolt-in.
I'll take some pics and post them here for you though.
one more thing, price lowered to $7500 for everything.
pics of the 5 lug stuff... sorry the pics aren't the best, I was in a hurry,
I can get some better pics of something if you have any questions.
just a
lmk if interested guys, I'd much rather a 914 lover get the car than some random person off CL.
Good luck with the sale. If life had not popped up and bit me in the ass I would zip over and snap this up.
I'd consider the 5-lug parts, but I bet it would be expensive to get them to the east coast.
I've thought of that too... only thing I can think is I can take it to the fedex freight place downtown, put the wheels and everything on a pallet, shrink wrap it, and ship it that way... my guess would be about $200 though... damn struts with the rotors and everything alone is heavy... then wheels and tires... 200 is a guess
I shipped 2 wheels not long ago(and not by freight rates, which is cheaper) and the 2 wheels in an 18x18x18 box the shipping was $45... shipping a 2.0 engine from michigan to tx was $300 IIRC, and I wouldn't be surprised if these parts would weigh more then an engine.... I'd try to work with whoever was interested though
quick note.,.. the blue tape on the studs is because I painted the hubs with clear paint after bead blasting them...
while I was outside I snapped a quick film of the car running...
the car hadn't been started in a couple weeks, but fired right up.

I looked at this car this weekend (550 mile roundtrip). It is in good shape and is worth the money if you're looking for a good car that won't need a lot of work on it. IMHO.

Sorry you're selling Wayne. I know you put a lot of love (money) into the car. Keep online and in touch. If you want to go to MUSR, we'll find you a spot.
yea, I wouldn't have thought I'd be selling so soon, but it's the right thing to do for me...
I'm still going to hang out here, and at wes' shop. and I'll have another 94 again one day.

The economy must be rearing its ugly head...can't believe you haven't sold that car.
$6500 for everything
getting tired of the CL buyers not knowing what a 914 even is, and being disappointed that it doesn't have heated seats and a/c...
5 lug parts sold, $6000 for the car.. firm
getting busy at work, $5500
cmon guys!
I have been researching the best way to convert my 4 lugto 5lugswhat is the correct and safe way in your opinion for future Autocross and spirited driving?

I told everybody not to buy your car until AFTER the MUSR11, that way you can hop in that bucket of bolts and come party on the Dragon with us. Now pack yer bags and get ready to roll!
well, I'll be travelling the rest of the month, so I still won't make MUSR11, someone may as well buy it so the car can at least see an event soon....
Honest bump for a car that I wish I had the money for!! If you ever need someone to store and take care of it let me know, I'll clean out my garage!
cmon guys, when I get back to 'Big D' I want to get the sale done while the weather is gorgeous! you will not find another 914 that needs nothing mechanical, for this price.
does your car have the tail, or side shifter?
It's a side shifter, all new bushings, shifts great
back in town, cmon guys!
$5000 will get you the car you can drive now... it's getting cooler, but the heat works.
Sending PM.... Dammit
no offense, but I'm hoping it's long gone by spring.
last minute xmas gift idea?
for the new year...
just had a buyer back out at the last minute due to a family emergency... damn the luck
Wayne
You gots a PM
SOLD!!
I'll still be around though, you aren't getting rid of me that easy.
so you know, it went to a good home... a world member.... from Missouri!
Most excellent! Congrats, Wayne. And the 5 lug bits are living happily on my car.
Congrats Wayne! I was watching and wishing you luck.
Wayne....sorry and glad at the same time. Keep online and hope you get another car someday soon. If you feel the need, we'll take you for a drive
I'll still be on 914 world. and I'll have another 914 one day. for now I'll be having fun with my new daily driver:
https://picasaweb.google.com/wafry1975/Mustang?feat=directlink
I may even try to make MUSR or talimena in it
Sweet! I rented a Mustang 'vert on a winter trip to FL a few years back. I told Shar that if I lived in FL or SoCal I could tool around in one for a DD.
it's a great car, and great fun. the new chassis is so stiff, and makes the car feel light. the new engine with 300+ horses is just great! and it's been in the 70s every day this week I drove the GT coupe, too...
the 5.0 is amazing. so fast!! but for me, the vert was the way to go... I gladly gave up the other 100 horses to "settle" for 310... to get the vert.
a GT vert was just way too $$$
