914World.com _ FS/WANTED: 914 Cars and Rollers _ FS: My lifelong project garage sale

Posted by: Aaron Cox Dec 10 2013, 12:20 PM

All,

It Pains me to do this, but the realization has set in - I wont be able to ever finish this car until a lot later in life. I've owned this car since I was 15, and sadly its been taken apart and parked for the last 4 years.

I'm through one grad program and about to start another. I plan to have kids soon... stuff like that.

Not wanting to take a bath, but I've got lots of cool stuff in this lot for sale. Looking for one buyer if possible.

More pics in my blog...

Hey Aaron,

At least you're young, can focus on your budding career, family, and come back to your gearhead passion in a few years. Best wishes to you.

How much for the GT engine lid and filler neck?

Posted by: etcmss Dec 11 2013, 11:46 AM

price for the whole car (all parts, etc).
not an open bidding war on each item---if that is what the post is about (to sell all the parts) then move it to parts.
Gary

Posted by: billh1963 Dec 11 2013, 02:08 PM

I'll start the bidding...$1! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Highland Dec 11 2013, 05:22 PM

How much for the stock side-shift transmission?

Posted by: sixnotfour Dec 11 2013, 05:40 PM

It wouldn't be a complete Aaron post without the bare foot picture in it.......
Yes there is one...Good Luck, Happy Life..

Posted by: bulitt Dec 13 2013, 05:49 PM

Wow, there are some nice parts here! Lost track of how many cars I have sold for my family, college tuition etc. Would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Posted by: Old Yella Dec 18 2013, 11:14 PM

You must be freaking joking, settle down, pull your finger out and put the bloody car back together.

Posted by: DrifterJay Dec 19 2013, 12:52 AM

Aaron, I will come out of hiding and help you get your car on the road. Don't do it! Drive it first and then see how you feel. If you can fiscally afford to keep the car don't ditch it. Btw, we almost died in that car, remember? Good times.

Posted by: 2mAn Dec 19 2013, 08:04 PM

Im close by in Fullerton and would love to help put it back together.

I think he is talking about the time when I spun my old blue six in front of you and almost T-Boned you guys on one of those fun runs years back before Joe Sharp bought it from me. happy11.gif

Posted by: DrifterJay Dec 20 2013, 07:35 PM

Curtis called it! But really, I wouldn't mind hanging out and lending a hand. (951) 575-8176. I keep looking down the road thinking I might be able to get mine back at some point...

Hey AA, if I heard you correctly.... " Might be cheaper to keeper and eventually finish her."

There ya go. The right thing to do. The crunchy on the munchie. The special sauce on the lower LA sauce.

It's the same special thing as that old bike. Don't let go of this bro.

Posted by: jeff Dec 20 2013, 08:42 PM

That's way too nice of a project to let go of..! Finish it.... Even if its one hour a week, friends, kids ,old ladies helping... I'm in Thousand Oaks,if your not too far I will help...

Posted by: jim_hoyland Dec 20 2013, 10:28 PM

Rent a storage unit, keep the car and all the parts. Years from now you'll be a happy camper.

Posted by: 2mAn Dec 23 2013, 05:48 PM

I say we organize a day where a bunch of us go and help him get a bunch of stuff done

Posted by: spare time toys Jan 1 2014, 09:08 PM

Don't sell it. Keep it to take rides with your future kiddos in it telling them stories of all the good times you had in it and all the fun they will have with it one day. The day it goes away you will regret it. I remember you giving me a ride in it when I drove out and picked up that 928 from Scott.

Posted by: dlee1967 Jan 4 2014, 04:08 PM

I suggest dry storage Aaron. Don't sell it. You will never be able to get back into it for what you have in the car now.

Speaking from experience, you will regret the sale.

My list of sales mistakes:
MGA twincam
Bugeye with 13B rotary
Datsun 510
356
1969 911
1967 Mini Cooper S (most missed)
I should have even kept the 1993 Turbo Miata

Now I have a shop with space, 20 acres of land and the means to maintain a fleet, I kick myself regularly for selling them.

Why so many bikes ? you doing work on all your cars lol-2.gif

Posted by: euro911 Jan 29 2014, 01:37 PM

Seems like the more bikes one owns, is directly proportional to having unfinished 914 projects confused24.gif

LOL

Saw that post too.... thought the same thing.

I'm still wishy washy. Someone showed up in a trailer and a pile of cash it'd be gone.
I'm years away sad.gif

Would also be interested in a fun trade. Something running/registered and floggable?

Posted by: McMark Jan 29 2014, 11:30 PM

Forget the 'Vision' and just throw parts on it until it runs. We don't need no stinkin fenders.

Posted by: jim_hoyland Feb 9 2014, 09:31 PM

Here' how it used to look like... smile.gif As I said before, put in a storage facility; when you have the mid-life crises, you'll have a great option..
