914World.com _ FS/WANTED: 914 Cars and Rollers _ Original Porsche 914/6 from the Brumos Porsche Collection Museum

Posted by: argo19c Jun 25 2014, 02:27 PM

From the Brumos Racing Collection Museum. An original 1970 Porsche 914/6 in 914/6 GT configuration, with 22,627 miles on it. Owners log book back to 1982. The log book includes owners names, vehicle maintenance and a photographic record of the Brumos Racing Staffs restoration of the car. It is chassis #: 9140431999. Full records from 1982 when John Joseph Griffin, of Minnesota acquired the car. Further records shows an astonishing $21,331.46 was spent on the car, in 1986 by then owner, Rick Moe, also of Minnesota. Further owners were Al Schlegal and Andrey Eng, both of California.
At this point Bert Roberts (AKA Bert Flagg, his racing name), CEO of MCI, then MCI/WorldCom, having raced an identical 914/6 GT to the famous Porsche 914/6 GT that Hurley Haywood won the first IMSA Championship in, with the Brumos Porsche vintage racing team, requested Brumos Porsche President, Robert (Bob) Snodgrass to find a top quality 914/6 for the street, for him to enjoy. The path led Bob Snodgrass to this very car.
The car was shipped to the Brumos Porsche Racing Department, in Jacksonville, Florida. A painstaking restoration of the now 914/6 GT was completed by the Brumos Racing Department staff, fully under the influence and direction of Bob Snodgrass. This restoration and a pictorial of the restoration is included in the owners log book and verified by the last, original Brumos Racing crew member, Brumos Racing Manager, Don Leatherwood.
Bert Roberts enjoyed this 914/6 GT for several years and the car was passed onto Multi-Time NFL All Pro Punter for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Brian Barker. Brian too raced with Brumos Racing in vintage. Prior to myself there was one other ownership. Wayne Jackson had been racing for Brumos professionally in Grand/Am, in addition to having raced with Paul Newman and Gunnar Jennette in the Ferrari 333SP at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Bob Snodgrass had told Wayne Jackson, of Maryland and a serious collector of vintage racing Porsches (917, 962, etc) about this very 914/6 GT and it was purchased by Jackson. Then, known as the "Black Brumos 914/6 GT" was placed on permanent display in the Brumos Porsche Racing Collection Museum for five years.
Having been invited to the Museum in late 2011, I saw the "Black Brumos 914/6 GT" and asked Don Leatherwood about the car. Don had been crew chief for Brumos Racing when my son had worked for the team during 2001 Super Cup Championship season. Don contacted Wayne Jackson and Jackson agreed to part with the car.
There are extensive records of all of the maintenance and restoration work performed on the car throughout those years.
It is a 2.5 liter engine, with full race, short shift, close ratio gearing transmission, Bilsteins Weltmister springs, annodized black brightwork, Leather, Original Factory Porsche Steel Flaired Fenders, SC brake calipers, Pagid pads and steel braided lines. Both the engine and transmission were shot clear. The transmission was re-built recently and the engine was tuned properly at that time. There are so many other details that are documented that the space here will not allow. For further information and photographs please contact meat : argo19c@aol.com. Please come and take a look at the remarkable Porsche 914/6 GT in person. It is located on Amelia Island, Florida. $85,000.00 (904) 432 7026

The chassis number for this 914/6 GT is 9140431995, making it an original 914/6 Porsche!

That's the VIN, not the Chassis Number. The Chassis # will be in the Rear Trunk

Hey argo19c! Remember me? I'm the guy with the LE Can Am Creamsicle. We met at the Cars and Coffee at the Times Union building a while back and exchanged numbers. I told you I first saw this car back in 2003 when it was owned by the Jaguar's punter at the time.

I first saw this car right after I bought my very first 914. I had never seen another 914 in person other than my own. It was in the (old) Brumos Porsche parking lot right next to mine when I went to the parts department to get a new part. I'll never forget seeing it. Then 10 years later I saw it at the Cars and Coffee. I told you it looked just like the one I had seen 10 years before, the first 914 I had ever seen (other than mine) that at the time was owned by the Jaguar's punter, which you then confirmed it was the same car. Deja vu at it's finest!

This is a VERY nice car. Congrats to whomever bought it! I have seen it a few times in person. I always wanted/wondered if this car would go up for sale. Not that I could afford it. Ah... beerchug.gif

@ my friends DEC and Gustl

"5" is the correct last figure.

That car has been offered in Germany for more than two months now.

Someone clue me in...why are we seeing this car being sold/resold/relisted and in many different places in 2014?

It doesn't look like anyone is making any $$$ unless it/the car is a scam?

Posted by: era vulgaris Nov 4 2014, 12:29 PM

It's the same guy, Argo19c, listing it every time. My guess is people are bidding then not paying.

Posted by: Mikey914 Nov 5 2014, 08:16 AM

Or just not meeting the reserve. Probably just waiting for the market to reach the asking price.
