914World.com _ FS/WANTED: 914 Cars and Rollers _ '76 914 in NOVA/DC area

Posted by: Porky Jul 24 2016, 03:38 PM

solid, driveable as-is car with current VA inspection. always wanted a 914, but since i got one, realize an old automatic boxster is the kind of porsche for me for multiple reasons.

car has a 75-76 2.0 in it, but not original to the car. has a single carb.

new front and back rotors, new PMB rear calipers, new stainless steel brake lines. transmission was sloppy and having a hard time finding gear, so had the bushings replaced. it's still a little iffy going from 1st to 2nd (tries to hit reverse). i'm not sure how much of that is me being bad at manual and how much is the transmission. read on a facebook page that there's an adjustment that can be made for the R/2nd issue, but at least the gears feel pretty solid when you go into them now (well, solid for a 914) instead of complete slush.

odometer doesn't work. heat/fresh air don't work (heat cable nonfunctional and blower for heat not present). radio doesn't work. paint is so-so matte yellow. looks good from a distance, but a few chips and imperfections up close.

this would be a good car to drive for the rest of the summer and fix up as a winter project. $6,000 OBO

I would make a suggestion that pictures of the hell hole, longs and other known rust concern areas might help with your sale.
