Would almost prefer a "conversion" to an original because they're only valuable to collectors if they are original. I couldn't bring myself to modify one.

I just bought it today after having it thoroughly inspected by Black Forest Porsche of San Diego. Can't wait to have it shipped here to MN. Final price was $65k.
It has a fresh '83 3.0 liter 911 engine, 915 gearbox with LSD, 964 front brakes, WEVO shifter, leather interior (!), show quality paint, new bumpers, all new rubber, refinished 16" Fuchs, Patrick Motorsports 914/6 oil cooler and SS heater boxes, high quality Blaupunkt radio,etc.
My feeling is if you don't have an original six, the value of a conversion is only in the quality of the components and the workmanship. While not "collectible" a conversion's ultimate value is more correlated with replacement/build cost.

There doesn't look to be any oil coolers other than the engine mounted one. Does the 3.0 engine run cool enough that one isn't needed? Just wondering.
Beautiful car! I love that it is still a narrow body.

There appears to be one line going to the front of the car on the right side and perhaps a second return line on the left side plumbed into the tank.

Anything from 2.7 up should have a cooler. All SC's had one. The 1st were continuation of the less than optimal "trombone" style. The intermediate fix sold by Porsche was the 28 row brass tube cooler. When the 3.2 Carrera was introduced we got the standard "Carrera Cooler" used till the end of the line.

The 28 row cooler didn't need require a shield. They are build like a tank.

I believe the inference was "external cooler". A SC is going to cook in that compartment without and external cooler.

The 914/6 oil cooler is located in front of the rear wheel, at the front of the wheel well. There will be no cooking allowed in the engine compartment

Once owned a ‘73-S out of TX. Clever guys there came up with a version of the loop cooler. It was located in the right side rear wheelhouse at the front behind the lock post. Car never ran more than 190 degrees. At the time front oil coolers were an option.
Sometime later a friend picked a ‘72 S. Car had been updated by a Brumos mechanic to a 2.7 RS configuration. The oil cooler was in the right side wheel house again, however this time it was behind the tire where the oil tank would have normally been placed. This time it was a typical radiator style. Also worked well.

All I was able to find out was much of the the mechanical work was done by Precision Motion and some done by Isringhausen.
