914World.com _ FS/WANTED: 914 Cars and Rollers _ SOLD: 1975 Red 914 1.9L

Hello,

I have too many projects (now working on a new to me 1972 914), and have decided to let go of my 1975 914. Asking price is $7000 OBO, located in Madison, WI.

I have had the car for the past seven years, and have continuously worked to improve it. It is a 1975 year model, and I am the third owner. The odometer shows 97000 miles, and I believe it to be accurate.

The car is in excellent daily driver condition. Everything works on it. The interior is very clean, with no rips or cracks in the seats or the door panels. There is a very small crack in the dash board, visible only from a certain angle. There are a few small rust bubbles in the paint that were there when I got the car, and they did not grow at all in the seven years I've had it. The car has always been garaged while I had it (it is now in a temperature controlled underground garage) and never driven in rain. It was put in storage every winter. This car is not a restored garage queen, but a good daily driver which looks great and drives excellent.

I have pictures of the longs from a couple of months ago, I will post them later today. The longs are very solid, but one of the jack receivers needs some work (there is a bit of rust around it). The hellhole is solid, but not perfect. The battery tray has been replaced with a new one, and the work looks excellent.

Two years ago I installed a freshly rebuilt engine with original L-Jet injection system, which works very well. There are less than 5000 miles on the new engine. No expenses were spared in the rebuilding of the engine: new cylinders, pistons (slightly oversize, making it 1.9L from the original 1.8L), new Webcam camshaft. The work on the engine case and the crankshaft was done by Rimco in California. The engine rebuild alone was well over $3000. The original, running condition, numbers matching engine is available for an extra $800.

Other work done: transmission rebuild about 7000 miles ago by previous owner; new shifter bushings; new Bosch fuel pump; passenger side rear view mirror with concave glass; new carpet; newer tires; all new brake lines; new battery tray and rust repair (by previous owner).

Bump for price drop (from $8k to $7k). Surprised there was no more action on this car, which I think is well worth the price. Please let me know what information and/or pictures people would like to see.

Can't believe this hasn't sold. Post some pictures of the bad spots. If they aren't too bad the car should sell quickly. Where's that guy always talking about buying a car? Here's one for him poke.gif

Car was sold today... I nearly cried when the guy drove it away, I must have well over 200 hours of work into it. Well, that's life. I can now focus on the other projects...
