914World.com _ FS/WANTED: 914 Cars and Rollers _ FS: 74 914 2.0 (2.2?)

I bought this car in August of 2015 on eBay and it came with no records at all. I have all the records and receipts since I have owned it, as well as the original owners manual. I have driven it approximately 5K miles since I bought it. The odometer was not working when I purchased it but I sent it off to North Hollywood Speedometer to fix the odo and recalibrate the speedometer. It had 53,xxx miles on it (153,xxx as the odo only goes to 5 digits) and has approximately 58,xxx on it now.

I bought this car just for the thrill of driving it, as I had owned a new one in 75. It was not meant to be admired as a thing of beauty. It has a 20 foot paint job on it, but it was originally silver. There has been structural work completed by some previous owner of the longs, as well as some other repairs. You can see from the underneath pics the pieces that pieces were welded on. There are other welded pieces on the sides, but since the rocker covers are pop riveted in, I didn't go to the work of removing them to take pics of those areas. Also the hell hole has been repaired, and I repaired, repainted the battery tray. I also did some rust repair on the underside, but towards the front the tunnel gets a bid soft. Given the overall condition, it would make a decent candidate for restoration.

The car came with the racing seats and 5 point harnesses. The harnesses looked really cool, but became tiresome for everyday driving, so I purchased some OEM style ones and installed them. If the new owner would like to have the harnesses, I'll throw them in as well. I also purchased some original seats that are in good condition, as well as a back pad, and also have the original steering wheel, but those items would be a separate deal.

I was told by the PO that it is a 2.0 that was stroked to be a 2.2. I have no way of confirming or denying this info because I've never had the engine apart. I do know that, for a 914, it fairly well howls. It has dual Weber 44 IDF carbs that were tuned, new jets installed when I first bought it, and again a couple years later. The engine drips some oil, but not much and I've never looked into fixing that. I was also informed by the tech who originally worked on it that it has a 30 milliamp draw on the battery, so I just hook up a battery tender when I'm not driving it.

I had issues with it not starting when the engine was hot, so I installed a Hot Start Relay Kit which solved that problem. I had the starter rebuilt, and then fairly recently bought a new Bosch starter for it, as well as a Optima Red Top battery. Along with that I installed a new ignition switch, so it starts much easier and better than it used to. I had new shifter bushings installed so it shifts pretty smoothly (for a 914).

The paint has numerous imperfections as well as some very small dents, and when it was repainted, the trunk was not installed correctly, so there's a gap on the passenger side. It needs a new windshield rubber seal. The corners have come off and it leaks (air and water). I do keep it garaged.

The tires are all in very good shape, as you can tell from the pics. The car came with no badging, so all the lettering, and Porsche crest were purchased and installed by myself.

I had the sun visors rebuilt at 914 Rubber, so they look really good. I also installed a new brake light switch as the brake lights weren't working, although I have since discovered that they have started working intermittently, so there is probably some alignment of the switch and the pedal that needs to be done.

This little car is a blast to drive and the only reason I'm selling it is that at my age, I would rather spend my time driving it than working on it, and any car this old needs lots of TLC. I would just like to get out of it what I've got into it (minus my labor, of course). As I said I have receipts for everything that I've put into it.
