VIN 9140431482. 126500 miles. Non-matching 2.7 liter engine. Original (AFAIK) transmission converted to side-shifter. Car appears mostly stock at first glance, hiding multiple subtle upgrades. Mildly flared fenders accommodate 7X15 Fuchs. Engine pulls strongly to redline and is an absolute blast to drive. Receives many compliments. Always garaged and never driven in rain during my ownership. Car is currently registered as a Collector Vehicle with a clear Washington State title.

I purchased this car in January 2012 with the intent to drive and enjoy it for a couple of years while I figured out exactly what I wanted to do, and then bring it up to a high end, driver-quality car. Local Washington State car its entire life, having originally been purchased new at Humphrey Porsche Audi VW in Everett. I believe I am the fourth owner with previous owner taking possession in 1993. Restored and maintained by best available local talent. Competing time demands and recent health issues cause me not to drive it as much as I hoped or should (~500 miles since I got the car back), so it’s time for someone else to have the pleasure. I’ve received a few word-of mouth nibbles but no follow-through, so offering publically here first, then PCA, then BAT. Detailed restoration documentation and maintenance invoices available. Asking price reflects our current economic reality. $59,500.

Body/Interior
Started no-expense spared restoration in 2014. Paint and body work done by Kirsten Rillos at Rillos Restoration, Kent Wa. Interior by Steve Shepp, Classic Interiors, Ballard Wa.

- Full repaint in original Tangerine (23)
- Only minor surface rust repair needed in a few spots (above left rear taillight, below windshield frame, etc.).
- No structural rust or other body damage.
- New battery tray - the only body part that warranted replacement. No damage to longitudinal, underneath.
- New Wurth underbody sealant.
- Patrick Motorsports rear chassis frame stiffening kit installed to accommodate increased engine HP. https://patrickmotorsports.com/products/bod-914-crk-pmp
- All chrome and bright parts re-plated.
- New windshield. (Original had scratch marks that wouldn’t come out. No cracks.)
- Original rear window defroster.
- All new rubber seals.
- New seat upholstery, back pad, carpeting.
- Original dash in excellent condition.
- New CocoMats.
- 911-E tachometer to better match engine redline. Original working tachometer comes with car.

Engine/Transmission
All engine, transmission, mechanical installation and maintenance work performed by Chris’s Geman Auto Service in Redmond Wa. and Aker’s Porsche, Seattle Wa.

- New Elgin 306/288-106 camshafts.
- New Carrera pressure-fed chain tensioners.
- New 1st gear transmission synchro. Rings, sleeves, bushings, and gaskets as needed.
- New Classic Retrofit CDI+ (6 Pin).
- Original Italian Weber carbs rejetted for 2.7 and new cams.
- Powder-coated original heat exchangers.
- Oil tank cleaned and hot-tanked.
- Fuel tank cleaned, boiled, and resealed.
- New Dansk muffler.
- New spark plugs, ignition wires, cap, and rotor.
- Replaced original plastic fuel line with braided steel line through the tunnel.
- New Optima yellow-top battery.
- All new fluids, etc.

Brakes/Wheels/Running Gear
- 7 X 15 Fuchs with RSR finish, restored by Harvey Weidman.
- Goodyear Eagle GT 205/60R-15 tires.
- 911-S aluminum front calipers.
- Genuine NOS 914-6 GT (not cut down 911) rear brake rotors.
- All brake calipers restored by PMB Performance. (Spacers installed in rears to fit the wider, ventilated GT rotors.)
- New 23mm ATE master cylinder.
- Powder-coated suspension components.
- Koni shocks.
- Tool kit and factory jack.

Additional parts, brand-new Covercraft car cover, factory service manuals come with the car.

That looks like a sweet 914-6. Please post up more detailed pictures if you are able and maybe a video of the car running. I would also post some in-progress photos of the restoration. I personally think your price is low. GLWTS.

Thanks for the well wishes and your suggestions. Will work on those items. I thought long and hard about the asking price. Suffice to say, I think folks are being a little more careful with their discretionary spending now than they were 6 months ago.

It sold new at Humphrey's,, Didnt Bob H. buy it back, ? Had his guys add the 2.7 and modify the rear fenders,,,about 1976..
had rear trunk removable panel for cis access.

I can't speak to the first part other than purchased at Humphreys. Engine build invoice I have for the 2.7 shows the name of the PO I bought the car from (not Bob H.). That was in 1993. Don't know when the fenders were stretched. My understanding is probably by the 2nd (??) owner who sometimes tracked the car. You are correct about the removable rear trunk panel for easier track day engine access, which is funny if you are thinking of a different car. I had the paint/body guy return to stock with a donor panel before painting. No idea if CIS was ever used on this car.

Hi MR. Beautiful -6! Could you please address a few questions:

1. No mention of engine oil cooling ... what is there?
2. Sway bar(s)?
3. Does the transaxle have limited slip?
4. Brake master cylinder? Original or upgrade?

Hi Rufus:

Thanks for the compliment. In answer:
1) Stock oil cooler only. As I related to one prospective buyer, I took the car for a spirited drive last weekend with the ambient air somewhere between high 80s and mid to low 90s. Pushed the car a bit and the temp needle eventually moved above the start of normal operating temp mark but nothing concerning or even close to a third of the way to the hot mark. Perhaps 1/4 ?? That said, it *IS* something I keep an eye on due to the conflicting opinions on subject.
2) Good question. I'm somewhat embarrassed to say I don't know. I presume so, because the car did see occasional track duty. I'll take a look when I next put eyes on the car and report back.
3) Stock diff.
4) Master cylinder has been upgraded. >> 19mm or maybe 22mm (??) << INCORRECT. See update post below.

Jay Hadley IS one of the previous owners. (Owner #2, perhaps?) Coincidentally, I live above Alki and went to his house one day to buy some parts he had advertised in Spiel. Started chatting and discovered we had the car connection between us. Nice guy.

Updated answer:
I looked under the car yesterday and didn't see a rear sway bar. The front sway bar has been upgraded, judging by the anodized drop link hardware. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what's in there.

I also just realized the dyno report I originally pasted in the ad above was from the PPI I had done when I purchased the car, NOT from after the restoration was completed, new cams, etc. That has been fixed and the correct dyno report is now displayed.

Upper entry shown is from the original PPI. Lower entry is post-resto. Same shop ran both tests. Sorry for the mixup.

Full payment has been sent to the seller, and I anticipate the receipt of the car title in the very near future. Arrangements for pickup and transport of the car to Rothsport for some work are imminent.

And very significantly, Mountainroads is a “straight shooter”. A very helpful and understanding seller in consummating a transaction in difficult times.

I look forward to experiencing this amazing 914-6.

Because this 914-6 already "ticks many boxes" for me, about the only thing planned beside addressing some normal / routine maintenance items is adding some oil cooling under the rear trunk ... summers in N.C. are kinda long and hot .
