Rich,

Whats the price? 8k?

Posted by: richardpickar Jun 2 2020, 09:09 AM

I would let it go to a new home for 6000.00. The car has been in storage for a long time and would need to be towed. I live in Sacramento- Car is Public storage Highway 50 and Bradshaw I do have what is needed for the 5 lug conversion. Have new 5 lug fuchs with new tires also plus a bunch of extra parts. Time for me to let this one go.....

What is the rust condition now and will the car come with a transferable title to take the car out of state? Not familiar with California DMV rules.
Thanks

sorry - car will come with bill of sale . I had always planned to go to DMV to register but never got around to it.
Regarding rust. It has a hole under driver seat roughly size of a quarter. It has some rust where you jack the car up on driver side. Car has new interior that needs to be installed. Car will need new seat rails as old ones were gone. Has new bumpers front and rear. The rebuilt engine was installed by Porsche mechanic in Sacramento x 4 years ago.

You will take a big hit without a title or transferable registration.

Just did this a few months ago so I know it is doable. However, I would guess the best way to do this is to do it in California first so that a title is issued. It could then be transferred out of state with "clean" paperwork. I can't speak to the requirements for any other state as far as documentation as every state is different. Don't know the particulars on this car's paperwork, but if there is a chain of bills of sale then it can be done. Since it is represented as being out of the system (not registered in so long that it has been purged from the DMV database) this should be sufficient. Even better if there is a pink slip somewhere in the paperwork. Alternatively you can do what I did, which was pay a company to handle a lien sale, then have the vin certification done by them. Cost around $200 and I now have the title to the car. No matter what, if it is out of the system then it will need an inspection. Unfortunately you have to "surrender" the blue and gold plates. (In reality you can keep them and then pay the extra cost per year to put year of manufacture plates on the car.) The inspection can be done for free by the CHP, at the DMV, or you can pay to have a certified inspector come to your house, as I did. It was cheaper and easier to do it that way for me. I wouldn't let the paperwork deter an in-state buyer. Might be trickier if you are out of state.

Looks like a good car and a nice deal. Too bad I'd have to add the cost of a divorce into the price of the car.....

Getting a Vermont tag and registration is very easy (I've done it three times). With that you can easily convert it to a title in most states.

Only problem with the VT option is they use a high nada value and then tax 6% based on that value. I think it was $18k last time I checked so you are into it for $1k just for tax. It worked great for my motorcycle since they didn’t have a nada value so we could use the $500 bill of sale but if they have a nada value for the vehicle, they use the higher number.

Yup... been through that before. It's government fraud through monopolistic extortion.

It may be expensive. But, if the car is worth having it may be worth paying VT the money to get the car licensed

I check for the info. Sad to say I have seen the car in 2 years in storage.

Here is the engine that is in the car. I purchased this from Tom from this site and had engine shipped to Sacramento and had it installed by local porsche mechanic

I am interested in your car and would like some more information. I have sent you a PM.

I am checking if it is possible to export the car without a title, just on a bill of sale.

Thanks to all for looking. Looks like the car is now sold with pick up this weekend. Thanks Rich
