Hello all.

I currently own a '74 1.8 and would like to acquire a second car.
I am looking for the best example I can find.

Originality and retention of factory equipment is a priority.
Mechanically tired cars are fine but would like to avoid body work or rust repair.

Will consider any color, any year but a pre 75 2.0 liter car in
Zambezi green, Delphi Green, Ravenna Green, Alaska Blue, or Olympic Blue, is preferred.

Budget is reasonably flexible if the right car is available.
Will consider cars in North America or Europe

I would rather purchase in a non auction direct sale from the owner.

I agree the Yellow car is amazing.

From a price perspective our 73 2.0 Delphi car in highly restored condition has a Hagerty replacement value of $93k and our 75 Palma 2.0 has a similar level of restoration and it is insured to $85k. In both cases the cars are valued below the restoration costs. These cars in either stock/low miles or highly restored condition are expensive, but good luck looking for the best example, might end up being the cheapest

I believe so. I have had cars restored and learned my lesson. A straight, never wrecked original with mileage related blemishes, and no rust, is the desire. Also, A car needing full mechanicals is fine if all original guts present. FI, matching etc.

Oh btw as you mentioned your Delphi, there is a car in Paramus NJ with a price of 62K. Does anyone know this car or have info on it? I feel like I saw it years ago in a hemmings article. Lamborghini dship has it.

Looks like a nice car , but there are no underside pics and most gaps appear off, and at least one door is hanging low… all fixable I expect.

at 62k I don't think I would want the word "fixable" in the conversation at all. Maybe that's just me?

Thanks for this Jett. I just left the guy a message. This looks like a nice car to my eye without more details. BTW I am curious, the warping of the front rubber bumper strip. Is that a normal wear and shrinkage issue. in rubber, or is it likely something more serious/ rust related underneath?
I see this on a lot of cars but I don't understand the cause. What do you think of this one overall? If it is not rusted, I love the color and would be interested in locating someone who might live nearby to look at it for me. Or find and hire an air cooled specialist nearby to inspect it.

The front rubber strip has a metal core that can rust, but easily replaced.

Thanks for those suggestions. I have talked with the selling parties. The Oly blue car has some rust issues. And The Alaska Blue on CL has recently been re-sprayed/. Could still be nice but not what I am looking for.

I saw this one a few months ago. Pretty car but not really what I am after. The fender scratch that launched a thousand ships. I would rather find an original paint, never wrecked, never repainted, non-restored car that is straight, presentable, no rust, with in tact fuel injection etc. Car could need mechanicals refreshed. That's ok if priced accordingly.
Some chips and scratches, dings consistent with wear and age is fine too.
Prefer to avoid twin mirrors and hood badges.
Not easy to find, but they are out there and unlikely to be priced at 60K$ unless freakishly low miles with museum kept condition and records to validate.

Is this a 13,000 mile car? If you look closely, it not only has been repainted but it has a replacement dash, a messy instrument panel and a worn shift knob, and Fuchs refinished on the left side but not on the right... small tell tail signs of a car with possibly more mileage.
