Lets face it OIL is the life blood that pumps through the veins of your T4 motor.
The 914 was designed as a sport driving vehicle as such can regularly see G-forces that conspire to starve the motor of that critical fluid.
Unlike its big brothers the 911 & 914/6, the wet sump oiling system in the 914/4 only works when there is oil available to its pick-up at the bottom of the case.
When hard cornering or sustained high speed sweepers are encountered oil does slosh away from that PU, and if air is instead sucked .......
bad things happen!
Here is a solution for your 914! This oil pickup & sump extension is a tried & proven product.
Slightly lowering the PU and immersing it in a captured reservoir of oil, avoids potential oil starvation.
Its nickname "Tuna can" is due to its size & shape
Past versions were made of Steel, now made of aluminum it has the same expansion properties as the case its attached to.
A HIGHLY recommended upgrade to any 914/4!
Can be used with the original steel sump cover, matched with a new billet aluminum cover. or as an assembly ( incl. gaskets).

Hi!
I see these are back-ordered on your store page, with no ETA. If I place an order, when could I expect it to be shipped?
Cheers,
Randy
Now updated product...& in Stock
That's not too bad! I was worried it could be months or they'd gone NLA. I'll place my order now, thank you.
I installed this last week and it was a breeze. No leaks either, whew! Cheers
Quick question on the "tuna can". It just arrived today in a box from LN Engineering. Are there instructions online? Haven't started this upgrade yet but was just trying to figure out how the metal adapter is used? I'm pointing to the part in question. I assume the screen remains in the same location. Thanks in advance.

it refers to "sealant" = Permatex Motoseal 1 which is just like Honda/Yamabond.

You can also search "Tuna Can" and get many threads - but whatever you do: Torqued to 9 ft./lbs. - no more...
Good - I think I do as well but haven't actually done it yet. Last (first) oil change, I couldn't get the stock sump cover off (this car is still sorta new to me) so I moved on but next change, it's happening. Update this thread with your findings when you're done!
