This is a great cover !! Had the car in the local shop for a tune up and that cover protected everything ! Really nice workmanship, good looking, and functional. This is a great way to keep from scratching paint while working in engine area. The bag is a very nice touch too !

Garold,
Did I buy one from you at the FFC? I can't remember.

These covers are really great. Stop using shop cloths and makeshift covers - this is the best on the market!! I bought some to carry for sale as well. Mom does some nice work!

Garold, just thought you would like to know that the 2nd one I got is getting alot of service. I gave to my mechanic for XMAS. He also uses it when working on Boxsters. Let me know if Mom is still planning on a 911 cover. I may buy a few, as I have friends asking me about them.

I know, mom is working on them. Please remember she is 79 now and these take a little time to make. She is trying to get a small stock of these made ahead, but it never seems to work out that way.

Hey guys, Mom was having a little vision problem, so she felt she couldn't do them until her eye problem was cleared up. She is doing better now and feels that she can make them again.

Please note she has changed her material. She now would rather use a nice thick quilted material instead of the vinyl she was using because the cost of vinly has gone up and the quality has gone down, at least below her standards for it.

tango-52
auerbach

I will PM when they are ready. I would expect within the next week.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Mom still can't beleive that us "car guys" really like them.

As of 4/23/08 Mom has stopped making these covers for a while. She is having vision problems brought on by 40+ years of diabetes (sp?). While I feel her sewing is just fine, she doesn't. To quote her "I don't want to make crap stuff"
So for now everything is on hold, sorry no new orders. I will update here when (if sad.gif ) her vision gets better.

Thanks everyone.

Posted by: tango-52 Apr 23 2008, 09:42 PM

I got a call from mom last night that she has made two more covers and wanted me to check them out to make sure they were as good as she used to make. I took my cover over and I can't honestly tell the difference. The quality of the news ones are just as good as the ones she made in the past.

So I have two more covers for sale for mom. If you would like one please send me a PM.

Thanks!

I saw this product when I first joined months back and I think it's about time I buy one before any paint carnage occurs! So sign me up and PM me with details on how to finalize purchasing one?! I like that it comes in a storage bag too, it can be brought in the front trunk on road trips!

Forgive me if this was already mentioned but I couldn't find details on how the sides of this cover secure along the body line of the 914 beneath the side pillars? Are there magnets sewn inside of the cloth or perhaps it attaches to something else?

Posted by: Garold Shaffer Jul 24 2010, 05:37 AM

You are next in line. I will PM you the payment details. To answer your question, yes there are magnets sewn in the sides to help hold them up.

Having recieved mine this week and after using it for the first time last night I would agree! I love the 70s appropriate blue/red/yellow plaid storage bag that it comes in too! I thought it would be a nightmare folding it back up after use and fitting it inside the bag (like most tents with a bag 50% too small!) but as it turns out the bag is sized spaciously enough that I didn't have to worry about it. piratenanner.gif

The cover fits comfortably in the trunk and is about the size of a big ole' dictionary... if dictionaries were plaid! laugh.gif

Thanks for making such a fine product Millie!

Yeah...I know...wasn't an easy trigger to pull. Probably shouldn't have. Depressed over some of those life issues that always come around form time to time, and just not feeling up to enjoying anything. Put her on eBay during a low moment, and now she's headed to France. Did get about $11,000 for her though...not bad.

You all likely already know this, but if you can get your hands on one of these covers you will never regret it. I use mine every time I work in my engine bay. It is the best! I love the pocket that holds tools and small parts too. Thanks again Garold and Garold's mom. beerchug.gif

The umbrellas are a must have item if you park outside. Sun or rain. They don’t take up too much room when folded neatly.

Posted by: ClayPerrine Feb 8 2023, 12:27 PM

I want to say the service covers are great! I have had one for years. But I do have a couple of suggestions for improvements.

1. Make it long enough to completely cover the rear of the car. Right now if something rolls off of the cover, it rolls onto the painted trunk lid.

2. Add magnets to the lower rear corners to hold it down in the wind. Adjusting carbs with the engine running can't be done in a garage, and the wind plays with the rear of the cover. I had it almost blow completely into the engine compartment with the engine running!

Mine is worn from much use. I am thinking about a replacement.

Just to make sure Perry sees this... @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=439

I ordered an umbrella top in Silver!

Matches the car and should be a bit less heat gathering than the gray.

That can be important down here in Hell!

@http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=13770 is super easy to work with, quick to respond, and refused payment until the top was "in process".

Looking forward to mine...

Other colors might be available. My suggestion is to hit him up.

I like spending my money with folks who are a part of the 914 community! first.gif
