914World.com _ Member Vendors _ 914-V8 Conversion Reference Manual

Posted by: propricer Jan 30 2006, 12:39 PM

You wouldn't be reading this listing unless (1) you already appreciated the 914's mid-engine handling characteristics and (2) you wondered what it would be like to combine that handling with the torque of a V8 engine ???

How about heart-pounding, almost scary performance like 0 to 60 in 4.x seconds, the quarter in the 12's, turn-in like a go-kart and stopping on a dime ... leaving an ear-to-ear grin that will almost break your face - but NOT your wallet!

With over 100 pages and 250 color pictures & illustrations dedicated to the 914 heritage, four different ( priced ) stages of 914-8 development from stock to sleeper to pumped to radical - pick your poison, the actual ( how-to ) conversion details and much of the conversion's follow-on accessorization.

Normally sold on eBay for $ 69.14 plus shipping, it's offered here on the 914club at $ 60.00 plus actual shipping ( US Priority Mail ) cost.

Following is the Table Of Contents page for an overview ... for more info, contact ... ed.ducey@gmail.com

I can vouch this is a very informative and well printed reference manual and guide. smilie_pokal.gif Don't soley rely on the kit manufacturers, they're just not good with documentation and they have biased information.

Wish I had read this manual earlier! If I do it again I won't be quite as clumsy. A great book and well worth the money!

Posted by: sean_v8_914 Jul 4 2006, 01:12 PM

the parts lists alone are worth the buy price

Do you still sell this? I have been thinking about getting a 914 and doing this. I did have a 914 about three years ago with an old Rayco body kit on it but sad.gif had to let it go. Any info would be great.

My father passed away recently but asked for me to take over marketing the book for him. I haven't received it yet but if you'd like me to send me your contact info I'll be happy to let you know it becomes available.

Hello Jennifer
Sorry to hear about your dad, I actually bought a conversion manual from him a couple of years ago, and then a V8 converted 914 that was in that manual !

Now I would love to get a more current digital copy and continue his work with your permision, since I know Ed was always updating and improving the manual

Also, what will you do with his own Porsches?

Please send me your responses as soon as you can, and thanks in advance, Joe

Hi Joe,
Thank you for your kind words on my dad's book. He was very proud of it. The plan is for me to take over the book and market it and of course, I would love to partner with people who have great interest in updating his book as he would want that. I have some kinks to work out with who has it now and getting it from them. I hope to have it soon.

As for his Porsche..its will be distributed shortly by the estate court. He only had one left - Sluggo his Porsche 914-6. The black v8 was sold in 2007 and the porsche ultima he worked on with his buddies wasn't owned by him but his best friends John Miller and Lawrence Farmer. I know they have been trying to sell that car now that its finished.

If all goes well and the court approves the transfer of Sluggo to me I hope to take it for lots of rides. I love that car.

I'll email you once I get more details on his book.

Jenifer,

I must send my condolences on the loss of your father, for him to create a book detailing his passion for the 914, shows he lived and enjoyed life to the fullest.

I have owned and built a 914 V-6, and now own a V-8. It would be an treat to have a copy of your dad's book when they come available again.

Please keep my contact info, and put me down for a copy.

Thanks,

Tony

Jennifer,

I have a 2005 copy. I'll send it to whomever needs one now (can't wait for the updated version) if they sent you say $50 since it's an older version and "used" (hardly). I will also include a pair of V8 5.0 liter emblems I got off an old Chevy. Lot's of great information when I had my V8 914 but can't use it for any of my current Audi conversion.

You told some great stories about Ed at the funeral. smile.gif

Let me know,

Felix

Jennifer,
So sorry to hear about your father. I havn't been able to get on here in quite some time, so Im just now seeing the news. College has a way of putting cars in the background. When you get things sorted out with the book give me a holler, I'd love to have a copy around.

Thanks,
Chris

I have one. I can't put my hands on it like most all other books in my house it has been put up by my wife along with all her teacher crap on a full wall bookshelf and in stacks of books everywhere.

I have built several toys. So my outlook my be different than others who may be just starting out. When I got it, it's not real thick, I read it cover to cover and really didn't find anything really outstanding that wasn't already available here or online. It was really sorta like reading about the fiero v8 conversion from the guy in florida that put the sbc in a brand new 84/4 cyl fiero. Mostly old technology. The best way to do any conversion is to do your own research on the latest stuff available and the reports of the people doing them, because it will be old technology before you get through.

I too am interested. I have had two 914's in the past. A 70, 914-6 and a 73 914 2.0 with the appearance group. Great cars. Been away from the 914 world (20+ years) but am coming back with a vengeance. Went to engineering school and raised 5 boys. Now ready to tackle a project I have been wanting to do for a long time. Have an itch to build a 914 V-8, caged, and all steel flares with monster meats in the rear. I would love to get my hands on a copy of this book as well.
