When I purchased my "73" 914 from a private individual a "Mozart" Porsche / Audi
Palo Alto, CA. license plate frame was found in the car. How do I confirm that is where it was originally purchased. I wonder if the dealer is still in business.

The only way I can think of to confirm where your car would have been sold is from the warranty booklet which would have had that information or if you know the original owner.

I was thinking this is probably the dealership that Steve Jobs bought his 924 back in the day, being from Palo Alto and all.
