914World.com _ Originality and History _ Original Dealer where purchased

Posted by: dads73914 Jun 3 2012, 07:02 PM

When I purchased my "73" 914 from a private individual a "Mozart" Porsche / Audi
Palo Alto, CA. license plate frame was found in the car. How do I confirm that is where it was originally purchased. I wonder if the dealer is still in business. dry.gif

Read here about Mozart P+A:

The only way I can think of to confirm where your car would have been sold is from the warranty booklet which would have had that information or if you know the original owner.

Hope this helps.

Jeff Bowelsby posted scans of a list of porsche dealerships, including "gus Mozart" Porsche in Palo Alto, from back in the day on this thread.

I also saw in another thread that:
"Gus Mozart Porsche/VW In Palo Alto. Now is Carlsen's Subaru or Audi Dealership I believe and then the Porsche portion was moved to Redwood City as Carlsens after it outgrew the Palo Alto site."

I was thinking this is probably the dealership that Steve Jobs bought his 924 back in the day, being from Palo Alto and all.

Hopefully your warranty book will have a real dealer stamp and not a handwritten note like mine:

But I got lucky and found a picture of a warranty book with the real dealer stamp:
