914World.com _ Originality and History _ 914 Porsche Mud Flaps Wanted

Posted by: 57lincolnman Mar 16 2013, 06:04 PM

I am trying to locate a pair of factory made mud flaps for a 914. The part # is 914 5530910. I have purchased the brackets to fit the '75 short valance. George at AutoAtlanta has one that he let me trace for a template to make my own flaps. However, it is a bit more complicated assembly and I'd prefer to have an original or used set. Thanks.

I have some early HANELINE Engine turned finish mud flaps from the 70s.

I sold an original set last year this time. I believe they went to Spain.

I am using the 914 for vintage car rallies on mixed road surfaces in British Columbia. Having the original factory accessory would add an authentic look.

I have these on my car and thought all 914s had then. Did they come installed from the factory or were they a dealer add on?

Definitely a dealer/customer installed add-on.

OK, they are factory parts. OKL, I can see the need in some parts of the world, say Virginia, where it seems most of the dideroads are unpaned, or south Texas, or many other parts of the world.

If you need/want them - go for it. At least, these things offer protection. Just wish they had been made a little less ugly.
