914World.com _ Originality and History _ 1.7 Ltr. Chrome Exhaust Tip - Stock?

Posted by: 74914LE Nov 9 2014, 07:01 PM

Can anyone tell me if a Chrome Exhaust Tip was "Stock" on a 72/73 - 1.7 car?
Was it just left painted gray? Was this considered a "Dealer" option? Where would
you get one today? Any pictures?

Thanks!

I am also looking to figure this out. Do you have a stock '72 exhaust? If so, could you post a picture of it. I am trying to locate one, and would like to know what it looks like.

I bought my 1.7 73 new. No chrome tip. It was just gray. If what to add one, your local FLAP should be able to help.

I bought my early '72 in 1978 and it had original muffler - just paint.

Umm Gents...

Chrome exhaust tip was a Porsche part...dealership option from 1972.

You can find something similar at FLAPS if you really feel the need.

Sorry, t was NOT stock in'72. A stock part would be something you could opt for from the factory. The dealer could claim "stock" for anything.

Not in that book.

I have the info here: http://bowlsby.net/914/Classic/Accessories.htm

Most were aftermarket, the KARO brand is in the parts catalog, a factory part.
