My COA said my 1970 came with "leather steering wheel covers"
Most of it is intact, but would like to see where members have turned to for restoration ?

I've been in the same boat, but settled on restoring what I have for now. The Dallas shop clearly does a great job, high quality and they look super comfy, but they clearly aren't original looking anymore. Same for most re-wraps.

If you go searching on Alan Gunn, you'll see a lot of comments about the quality being low. but the price is pretty good. I haven't seen many pics.

I restitched mine several years ago to get by. Get waxed thread at a hobby shop. If there is any stitching left in yours you can use it as a guide to get the pattern right. be careful pulling, it needs to be tight but the old leather will rip pretty easy.

I've had some spots form on the leather where it's clearly aging poorly. I've taken to using sandpaper (150'ish grit to rough it up, then something super fine like 400-800 to finish it off). I figured I had nothing to lose and have been really happy with the results of that.

as an added bonus this keeps that wonderful leather patina intact. it's also clearly the CSOB solution!

I saw that Eklers/Automotion offers a cover "kit" for the 4 spoke butterfly wheel but its listed as a 911 part which I believe is a diff diameter ?

As I recall, the bowtie kits offered by Automotion are 16" or 17" diameter kits. The stock 914 steering wheel is 380mm or 15" in diameter.

Regarding AGLA, I believe the leather kits themselves are fine. It's the restoration service (or lack thereof) that has received so many negative comments.

Speaking of DIY kits, here is a nice how-to write up by Montreal914. He used the AGLA kit:

The end result looks really terrific and Montreal914 saved himself a bunch of money doing the work himself. The only thing I might question is the stitching at the spokes.
I have read in a couple of other threads that the stitching changes from a criss cross stitch to a baseball stitch at the spokes. See image below for reference:
