914World.com _ Originality and History _ Did these serve a purpose?

Posted by: 914Next Jun 24 2016, 07:04 PM

I've wondered what purpose the white plastic "serrated" rings in the frunk of my '73 914 served. They are quite flimsy and can easily come out. And there is one on each side but in only one of the two openings on each side. Were they supposed to prevent chafing of the wire harness? Hardly seems like it would do much to prevent that.

Yes, prevents chafing, as well as shorts to the metal.

Thanks Tom. I'm assuming these are not available anymore.....and might be a good easy piece for Mark at 914Rubber to make. Hardly ever see any on cars.
