914World.com _ Originality and History _ Pedrini Aluminum Wheels

Posted by: 914sgofast2 Sep 30 2023, 10:25 PM

I recently picked up a set of four used Pedrini aluminum wheels and was wondering if there is a way to determine their date codes. I don't see anything on the backside of the wheels that looks like a date code. I just found the wheel size (51/2J x 15), the 914 part number, a VW logo, and the Pedrini company's logo. There doesn't seem to be any other group of numbers which could be a date code.

I have a set of PedriniĀ“s with a date code ("11/71").
Not cast, but stamped, see attached picture.

Thanks a million. I will look on the mounting face. Didn't even think to look on the face area.

Just found it! Two of the wheels are dated 12/70 and the other two are dated 11/70. Since my car was built in 12/69 by Karmann, I guess that these wheels are "year model appropriate" for my 914, even though a few months younger than the body shell.

They are a whole year older than your car, it appears they were added later or are replacements.
