I am going throught my lot of hrons to see if they work or not , and noticed that some are screw ( with a sloted screw and square nut) and others with rivets,, are they year specific or what???

This won't help much, but I removed the dual horns from my two parts cars, one pair has the screws and the other pair has rivets. Both cars are 74's, the earlier of the two had the riveted horn bodies.

Typically and I say that 'lightly'..
72 and before had the screw type..
And 73 and after had the rivited thru 74..
75 and 76 found us with the horns facing towards
the ground and a 'Folded rim Seal'....on those..
BUT partz iz partz..and dey used what waz in dah bin!!

so in order to be concouse correct to do a original -6 i should use screw type not rivets and if i got rivets, drill them out and put scews,,

what was the finish of the cover?/ painted , PC, plated ??

This is completely contrary to what I found to be the case on my 74's.
With one being riveted and the other screwed, chances are that the factory
used what ever they had available.

Yepperz ..Datz why I said "partz is partz'.....
Dual as opposed to single was
part of the supply of one more so than the other..
Re high n low tones..
BUT::Rivets did show up in 73......
Most of all of the 'Original' cars that I have had the pleasure to inspect
or to own, have followed that guide line of year production....
74 they knew that they HAD to go to the bottom of the barrel,
as the 75 /76 as explained was a totally different horn....
So it stands to reason that certain 74's had a mix of rivet and screw..
But I did say 'Lightly'....
As the 914 Karmann line was not a 'Porsche' assembled product...
But I do Appreciate the info as it adds to my 'Geekness Info Quotient'
