914World.com _ Originality and History _ Source for new door jam vin stickers?

Posted by: Ferg Oct 13 2006, 09:05 AM

Well, one of the PO's removed mine for paint or whatever reason... Is there a way to get a reproduction door jam Vin Sticker? you know the black on on the drivers door below the striker plate.

TIA

Howzit goin?

I got mine from AA - they had both the silver and the black decal - unfortunately they only sell just the blank, they dont put your vin/build date on them.

See you soon -

Search under username "Partsman" works for a dealer and was/is able to order them from Porsche

The ones that come from Porsche are the new style (as on current cars). I believe Z ordered one and that's what he got.

I got a blank door jamb sticker from AA. Does anyone know the height of the original vin numbers and the size of the holes. 1975 if that matters.

If you contact Socal Andy he can make you a perfect example to install in your car.

Contact SoCal Andy on the World site. He has the sources to reproduce a perfect replica for 914's and 914-6's. You'll need proof of ownership and need to submit a form to Andy. He's supplied quite a few in the last year or so to a lot of us.

By the way, they are perfect!

Let me preface this by saying I don't mean to start any controversy. SoCal Andy's stickers are beautifully made and well worth the price.

But here's an original sticker and one from SoCal Andy. Are there differences? Compare the "G" and "R" and the amount of black space on the right side of the sticker.

Regardless of the minor discrepancies, the new stickers are the solution for a lot of cars missing them when they undergo a repaint - like my car.

In an ideal world, you should be able to just request a new one from Porsche with proof of ownership. Alas, that is not the case. So I thank Socal Andy for stepping up and hitting a home run for the team.

I am pretty sure Andy doesn't produce the stickers, just gets them stamped correctly with your vin and the tamper proofing.

Ask Wojtek if he will do a 914 one for you. Sure he will...he goes by "noboco" on Pelican Actually looks like he is doing 72-76 914 probably because it was requested http://car-bone.pl/page/3/?s=914&post_type=product

OK, I have one of the blank ones from AA. How do I find SoCal Andy? I searched the member list and didn't see it.
