I saw another post where someone asked the same question regarding an emblem on the sail panel. I've not seen these on any other's photos. This is a 1970 1.7L third owner owned since `78 or `79. Everything else on the car is stock including the front deck vinyl cover with original "Porsche" vinyl storage pouch.

Any info on these?

While I do believe in the old "you learn something new every day" saying, I can't believe that came from the factory. Maybe a dealer came up with some crazy idea. I've never seen nor heard of anything like that.

What does it say BTW; can't really tell from the pic.

I will go out on a limb here and catagorically proclaim:

That, sir, is NOT original.

I'm on the same limb!

Looks like late 70's JC Whitney stuff. Definitely not factory.

In all seriousness, you could remove the emblem and replace your sail vinyl. It's not expensive and if you take your time, not hard to do.

If you go that route check the holes that were drilled for this emblem carefully for any signs of rust. You can fill 'em and put new vinyl on no problem

cheers, m.

All years had the same vinyl grain if it was supplied by the factory. I've have seen some vinyl products many years ago on 914s that look as if they came from a Cadillac Eldo, Lincoln T.C., or Chrysler Cordoba. post-2-1117899824.gif

Sorry, but you asked the best of the best when it comes to 914 anything.

No malice intended. We've seen it all! We can and will help you with anything teener related. Any slams we make are "tongue-in-cheek", so you'll need a thicker skin than normal, and a barbed tongue to respond. We love challenges.

Hey, Brian - you want to really confuse people? Leave the High Performance emblem on and slap one of these bad boys down beside your tail lights . . .
