914World.com _ The Paddock _ Goodyear Eagle RS?

Posted by: race914 Dec 27 2009, 09:45 AM

Has anyone tried a set of http://www.racegoodyear.com/tires/pdf/EagleRS_09SEP09.pdf out on the track?

If so, any pros/cons as compared to other DOT track tires you've used, Hoosiers, BFGs, Kumhos, etc.?

That thread asks the same question:

"I guess the next question is whether they will be any good..."

It seems the Eagle RS may be too new for any objective 'user reviews'

Thanks for the link though JP. I'll watch that site too for feedback from anyone using them.

Just my .02 for whatever it's worth.
Anyone using R spec tires for DE needs to have his head examined.....unless you get em' for free. The exception would be W2W racers that are practicing.

I havent seen a good review of them yet. I suspect these will be decent track tires. What I have observed with other good year race tires is that ultimate gip may not be similar to Hooiser but Good Years seem to heat cycle better than Hoosiers in general when comparing similar compounds. This tire would be similar to R6 Hoosier.

Suspect these Good Years will be similar to the BFG R1 DOT R. I love the BFG R1 DOT R tires - they last a much longer time than R6, great feel, heat management is excellent.

If youre looking for top performing DOT R tire definitely consider BFG R1.
