My Buddy Scott has an offer that I'm extending here...

Subject 914 Drivers wanted for Roebling Jan 29/30th 2011

Hello - from Scott in Savannah

...

I am sending this to you as an invite to drive my 1973 914 race car at
Roebling Road Raceway in Jan 2011.

I want to start by thanking everyone that has shown interest in racing with YSR
- yellow submarine racing.

Please visit www.chumpcar.com if you have not,,,,, to see the idea behind this
crapcan racing series.

The first page has an "about" button

http://www.chumpcar.com/about.php that tells you in a short paragraph the
concept.

Welcome to ChumpCar – North America’s home for $500 race cars and
endurance road racing. This series is for gear-heads; for people who love
driving and driving fast. It’s for grassroots race teams and almost-race-ready
cars. ChumpCar is a throw-back to the era when racing was fun and cheap… when
Bondo beat carbon-fiber; when a crescent wrench was the most valuable tool in
your box; when home-made engineering made everyone sit up and take notice; and
when adding a little theme to your car didn’t get you laughed out of the pit.
Those were good times… and they’re back.

Another button to review, is the FAQ's ---- and then the Rule ( very long, but
1/50th of the SCCA rule book) are good reading for the "spirit" of the race
series.

Then the Forum ---- please read the topic "How to calculate team member/arrive
and drive seat value"

Type " calculate value" into the search box on the top of the forum page, and
the third topic down in the one to read. I started it to get ideas about teams
and arrive and drive value and costs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is no doubt that there will be issues with this ( and almost every) chump
car at any given race. With that mindset, I am setting the arrive-and-drive
price low for the first race of the yellow Submarine Racing Team.

Drivers that have driven with YSRT will get a better rate that first time
arrive-and-drive teammates at future races.

Here are just a few of some of costs of parts-

tires $400 - I bought 6 dz101 at about $60 + mounting
Gas $280 $20 per hour ( 6-7 gal
@ $3) = $140 each day $280 total for weekend

Oil $50 5 qt to start and 5 qts on
Sun
Brake pads $120
trans fluid $50

car entry fee $500 $125 each if we run 4 drivers
Driver $400 $100 each driver
Transponder $50
Fire extinguishers - oil absorb - plugs - wires - belts .....

400+280+50+120+50+500+400 (4 drivers) = $1850 i think - is you divide by 4 =
$450

That does not cover other stuff that get tore up in normal racing .... trans ,
rotors $200 for 4, clutch $250

What I don't cover - REQUIRED personal safety equipment (helmet, fire suit,
shoes, nomex socks , nomex gloves, neck protection...) Chump License ($50 per
year) , First time race drivers novice School $25 ---Hotel - Transpotation -

Food and Drinks ( I will coordinate this but ask for everyone to chip in )

So here is my idea ----- I need 3 drivers to paypal me $250 ---- asap then
$250 more by Jan 14th.

After much thought, I will propose that consumables that are not completely
used will be refunded at a prorated level.... If you get less than 1/2 o=See More

Any Trades? biggrin.gif

I would trade for (5) 100 dollar bills or (10) 50 dollar bills ------ Actually a large Hans may get you a free seat ----- lots of other stuff could get you credit toward a seat --- race radio loan --- engine /trans loans .....
