also there are multiple weights of fiberglass hoods
some are light weight (racing)
others are well braced and use stock hinges (but weigh more)

Also it depends if you use or remove the stock latches and springs. I have very lightweight Getty lids and still use the stock hinges but lost the latches, springs, locks etc. I will probably even lighten (drill) the hinges in the next round of "adding lightness".

I have a 76 914 that I'm looking to upgrade to fiber glass parts... looking to replace the front and rear bumpers, hood, trunk and rocker panels
the car has no interior matting, RS style door panels... what is the weight of the front and rear bumpers on a 76 914?
Also I'm considering removing the FI and adding weber's 44 on the car and aggressive Cams... any ideas of HP gain?
Thanks

Re. your engine mod questions - lots of discussion on the main forum about carb conversions etc. Short answer is don't expect much unless you also address the exhaust, potentially increase compression, and so forth. In addition you'd have a more temperamental beast than with the FI. Lastly I believe 44's are too big for stock displacement/internals and 40's may be a better match, but that is better answered by other folks...

My 74 doors weighed in at 64 lbs each. After gutting them they were 20 lbs each....others have reported lighter weights .....after. 88 lbs is a very substantial loss in the quest for lightness.
