914World.com _ The Paddock _ New track opening in Port Orchard, WA?

Stole this topic out of a thread in the garage between @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=378 and @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=2744 .

Anyone know details about the plans for Circuit of the Northwest track near Bremerton? I consulted with them years ago on the requirements for a good autocross site and am hoping that they are following through. Rumors occasionally circulate that we could loose the Bremerton site near the airport because the port authority is worried about the degrading asphalt.

Found this article that indicates that construction was going to start at the end of last year. https://www.kitsapsun.com/story/news/local/2019/10/20/circuit-northwest-start-construction-racetrack-2020/4022465002/

"...with construction expected to begin in the third quarter of 2020, Nilsen said. The timeline for construction depends on memberships, naming rights, private investors and technology partnerships, according to Godfrey. The goal is to get 100 members before construction begins and 300 by the time the facility opens. The projected opening is 2021."

Motorsports and racing is enjoying a bit of a surge in the Seattle area. Driven by MS money, among other things. A fav track of mine is The Ridge, which is enjoying good business and is expanding. Pacific Raceways has been recently refurbished after a near death period, so this doesn't surprise me.
The budget for this is chump change for some of the deep pockets up there.
I hope it happens - I'll give it a spin if it does.

there's lots of money other than MS floating around. LOTS. A boon for the Belfair area. Adj air strip that can handle large aircraft. Crazy Eric's will do well. The biggest hurdles will be infrastructure. I can see where noise limits might or should be put in place. Scenic location. When not socked in with clouds and rain.

That track is in Oregon. We went there for laps (very controlled. Behind a pace car. No lagging back or passing) and lunch when the WCR was held in The Dalles. Nice facility.

Interesting location - pretty far from "civilization". I've driven (and instructed at) ORP in Grass Valley - really fun track but out in the boonies. They've had a bit of a hard go at getting people to make the trek, but some of the larger scale HPDE schools (Hooked on Driving, etc) have brought decent sized run groups out.

I think membership @ $62.5k unrealistic. Will there be monthly dues as well?

Well aware of both locations. Boardman is on the Columbia river and was site to a rather contentious nuke. Easy to find at night - it glows in the dark.

ORP is alive and well. Had some lean times but has pulled through. As said - really fun track. Runs both CW and CCW. Very technical with a few blind turn ins and fun elevation changes.

I don't have the nut for the one in Boardman. Like I said it's an odd location for such a high priced compound. I guess Boise is the nearest reasonable airport. Limited weather too - unless you like racing on ice...
