...Yeah, that is easy enough. I'd prefer the beveled style however.

jmz, I do like the beveled plates also but just always wondered that the revetted down edges would be hard on the paint. Mark

Are the beveled edges ostensibly to put a "spring pressure" on the pin?

Late to the party and maybe not much help but I also made my own pin plates. When I looked what can be purchased ready made nothing met my standards for function. I also needed mine to be strong - as in very strong. I used .125" stainless plate (440); beveled the edges; and used .250" stainless rivets. I extended the top two plates (corners) over the hoods edge so I could use them as stands (thus the double rivets, as well) when the hood was off - works great.
