A bunch of you have very nice cars that I'm dying to find out the weight of...
come on gang.
get on some car scales (not truck scales) and post your weights here please...
brant
Right now? Gee, I'd take a guess and say that my car weighs in around something like 1500-1600 lbs...
Oh yeah, there's no seats or carpet, no rear window, and no engine or transmission, yet...
But I'll be getting the car on some scales as soon as it's done and running. I'm hoping something in the neighborhood of 1950-2000 lbs in fighting trim.

"stock legal"...
That's a good one...

1700 dry, no driver. Still have steel trunk and hood.
I love when someone asks this question.
1,350 depending on fuel load.
Thanks, Brant.... btw... I'm still running a big battery, too.
Mine comes in just under 1800lbs. Thats with 60lbs ballast, full size battery, 5lb fire system, 11qts oil, low fuel, steel fenders and front lid, stock roof, lexan windshield.
Nice Chris!

Why not truck scales?
Hay Brant.
I'm finally getting around to removing the floor tar from my car(humm, poetry )
Got it bout half done & there's 7 lbs of road hugging weight in the pail.
Lessee 1848-7.....er... carry the 2....1841.
Also got rid of the pass seat & adjuster goodie.....maybe 10 lbs tops. 1831 & dropping.
I can see the 17xxs in my future....less windshield, dash & asociated shittage.
The upper section of the cage is also in the crosshairs.
Then....I have a selection of hole saws...I also see E Mod in my future
With my tires... flares... long kit.... and bondo?
somewhere around 2400..
Note that each wheel and tire combo is around 50lb on the back.. and a measly 40lb on the front..
(thats street though) With goodyear slicks and cookie cutters, im sure I'd shave 50-100lbs...
Heck... I'd like to get it under 2k..
Anyone think I can do it? its only 350lbs..
Currently at 1980lbs with 1/4 tank and no driver.
Still have stock trunk lid, headlight motors, full interior, etc.
Next project is fiberglass trunk lid/spoiler.
Never had the chance to weigh mine...
1974 2.0, front and rear sway bar, koni red all 4, 140lb springs, 2.0 fuchs, FG hood, rear lid, roof, front bumper and rear bumper, all sound deadening stripped, no radio, full interior, both seats, and a rollbar...
I'm guessing around ~1900. Anyone have a better guestimate?
Does anyone know the "actual" weight savings, using Lexan windows?
I have been considering it. Comments?
Hey Brant, all that sun in La Junta must have cooked yer noggin a bit. 1% of 2,000 lbs is 20 lbs,, not 200...
Still, truck scales are not going to be very accurate for a 2,000 lb car.
-Josh2
All calibrated devices are generally calibrated to work within a range that they are designed to be used for. You wouldn't use a bathroom scale to weigh a letter that you're sending by mail?
Granted, the wight of a 2,000 lb car is a lot closer to the range of use of a truck scale than a letter is to a bathroom scale. But it's likely that the scale is not calibrated for use at that low a weight. What does it mean? It -could- mean that your measurement is waaaay off. It could also mean that your measeurement is spot on. There's no way to know.
If I just wanted to know -roughly- how much my car weighed, a truck scale would tell me fine. But if I'm trying to make minimum weight for a competition class, the truck scale is likely to land me in the impound shed, with a protest sheet on the window...
And even then, corner scales will only be accurate if they're properlly setup and calibrated.

weighed mine at joe sharps house. 1 gallon of fuel, and no front bumper...
1908 lbs. all metal....
The scales at our dump weigh a wide variety of vehicles.
Little mini econo-cars with a small load in the trunk to the largest triple axled trailered dumping big-rigs.
It's pay by wieght.
Wiegh in . Wiegh out. Every 20# is theirs.
I hope somebody is regulating them.
Anyway...I'll post my real wieght after I get on some car scales.

I need to go down to the roundy round shop and have them give me a baseline. Then I can record everything I take off and put back on. Hopefully keep track for a few more years.

Swapped out my 37.5 pound steel hood for a 11.1 pound fiberglass version.
Swapped out my 35.5 pound steel trunk lid for a 11.1 pound fiberglass version.
~50 pound weight save.
Now, I'm sitting at 1650 with no fuel or driver.
Dang... Kevin....
that is awesome!
