My red car is set up similar to yours. I have the Smart front sway bar and a rear sway bar as well. I switched to flares last year and have been running 16" Fuchs. Fronts: 951 offset, 8x16; Rear 911 offset, 9x16. Perfect fit on the car with 1/4 inch spacers rear and 1/2 inch spacers front. Tires: Hoosier A6's, front: 225/45/16; rear: 245/45/16. Hoosiers run a little wider than other tires for the size.
I know I missed something in the original post.. is the question to run 8's all around vs 8/9? and the other question the 225-50 vs the 225-45?
From an ease of use (and rotating tires) I would run the same size rim/tire on each corner.
Also, while the difference is slight, would running the 225-45-15 acheive and gearing advantage/disadvantage for where you are running?
Like the previous poster, I like the staggered 225/245 combo on 8/9s. Finding a wide low profile R comp tire to work on a 9x15 can be hard. Same with a 16".
Sorry trying to be concise but...
Yes you are correct ...Hard (if not impossible to get good tire for 9 X 15 wheel)
I can install either all 8 X 15s or 8X15 and 9 X15
I am trying to use existing tires plus 2 new ones .......Which means I had 2- 225 50 and bought 2- 225 45. Wanted 45s at rear for gearing help......but went back to AIM and they advice shorter tire on the front. So Plan is to go 225 45 up front on 8s and 225 50 on rear ...but still haven't decided on 8 or 9 inch wheel. I also have 205 50 s but feel they are too small .....
I am trying to avoid 16s due to increase in diameter and effect on gearing.
Hope that clarifies.
Anybody have experience with 225 50 on 9 X 15....Is it good or ??

225 is too narrow for a 9" wheel. Even in a Hoosier it's a stretch.
275 fits 9's and 10's.
Best to stick with 8" rims for a 225.
If you end up with 15 X 9s Fuch for sale, let me know.
Joe :
I was afraid those were the words that were going to shake out here. I know I can't even get 275s........
Thanks all.

Hey this IS the Paddock so you must be racing.
Joe:
I have been using Toyo 888s and really like them ( have to say price was also an issue)........Been mainly for DE with PCA but planning to go NASA. Had laid off for a longggg time and rust in the driving as bad as in the car . Getting there though .
Gues I will check out A6s.
Thanks

Hoosier makes a 275/35/15 that is nice on a 15" wheel. It is a bit short ... it all depends on your grearing requirements. On a short track they are great..
