The weekend before the Historics, they have the Pre-Historics.

Most of the people that will run the Historics show up, get set up and run for two days of practices and races.

What a display of racing Porsches. Must have been 10 or 15 917's plus 908's, 956's, 906's and everything else that you normally see at the Historics.

You could simply drive in to LS, park and sit in the outside (empy) paddock grand stands, like by turn 4, and get the show of your life.

Inside the paddock it was just the racers and their crews, i.e., no one around.

Neat.

Here is a beautiful 917, driven by Gijs Van Lennop (Dutch) that won Le Mans back in the 70's.

See the 917 restored on a 20 part youtube from Gunnar Racing.

My friend Pat Costin, from Reno, ended up finishing 7th in the Sunday Race.

Not really bad when the 911's are having to run 205 Hooser street tires that go totally off after about 10 minutes.

Tires seem to be a way to keep "certain cars" from finishing higher up in their class standings.
