Our Most improved award winner was Andrew Lauder with an improvement of 40.398 seconds from his first run to his best run.
Our Cone King award was a tie between Keith Sammons and Birgit Heniz. They each took out 6 cones over the course of the day (much less than I expected for the Cone King). The tie breaker for the award was the person who hit the most cones in a single run - and that was Keith Sammons with 4 cones in a single run. Sorry Birgit - you were just too consistent with your cone killing abilities.
Congratulations to all of the winners. I'll try and publish the full results below. Hopefully it will work.

Congrats to all!
Would have been interesting to see afternoon times for all as well. I know everyone was moving faster later in the day.
There are a number of interesting things that the WCC seems to have accomplished. Encouraging 914 owners to try new things was one and we should be really excited that several car owners have mentioned that they are now interested in AX as a direct result of their experience at the WCC.
So when is the next WCC?...
Hey! My times were not posted? All I got was 2 DNF's? What about the times for the other runs I did? It only shows the DNF's. Was it because they changed the car number on me after the first 2 DNF runs? I got my slips in the car that had times on them. They made me do the one that was only 36 seconds over. But I had 2 good times after that. They werent posted.
These were the time slips they gave me when I finished each race. Also, I was not in the race class, it was a stock 2 liter car.

I meant to ask you about this yesterday Scott. I had a difficult time deciphering a number of peoples times because they changed cars, changed numbers, 2 drivers trying to share the same car with the same number, etc.
You should have been car number 44. When you decided to co-pilot Howard Dranow's car, you were reassigned to car number 123 (to make the change between Howard's 23 and your 123 easy). Howard's number is car number 23.
Take a look at your time slips. What's the car number? Now look at Howard's results - he got credit for your times.
Scorekeepers have no way of knowing who is in a car other than by their car number. So when people run the wrong number, the times get screwed up.
In your case, this is easy to fix - but what about Howard? I have no other time card for Howard. Did he not run his car at all and just let you drive?

lets see if this works ...

Demick, you've got a type-o in the stock class. Nathan got a 59.843. At first I thought it was favoritism, but then I checked the spreadsheet.
Dave was ranting and raving about Neil's driving... I guess I should tell him that we built Benjamins motor and that we sorted the car and installed wheels/tires... NO sway bars... KYB's and worn out springs... Good job Ben
B
yup, i'm supposed to be a 59.843 -- not .853...
it's correct in the spreadsheet, so whatever...
if you'll pardon my french, i had a fucking blast. dave d was an excellent instructor -- really helped me find the apexes. thanks so much, dave -- i owe you a beer. and a MAJOR thanks to those who set up the AX. (i even squeezed in a bite for lunch, thank you very much!).
my best time was a 57.8xx on a fun run! street tires, kyb's, stock suspension! fuck yeah!!
brad/rich, you'll be hearing from me this summer re. suspension components (as my budget will allow). i'd like to slam the car an inch or so, koni's, 140's, falken anzis, etc... i'm open to suggestions...
brad, thanks for the tip: "slow hands". i was running consistent 58's after you told me this (minus a couple spins).
awesome time. it's killing me that i have a prior commitment this saturday -- have fun down at the marina w/out me...
nathan
So then howards times are my times, I know he didnt get below 102 or something like that
Demick, Scott is right. A stock engine 2.0 in 'race' class? Cards were corrected but must not have been entered in system. If you still have cards, #'s 44 and 123 were taped together. Those are Scott's times (not so sure about that sub 40 second run) . Didn't save my slips but think best run was 62 something. They should be entered on card 23. If not, just put down that I had a really good time the whole weekend!
Yep Neil.. you are now officially hooked on the heroin (along with about 10 other people who attended the AutoX for the first time.) I recieved no less than 4 phone calls today about shocks/springs/sway bar... people wanting work done/parts. Right now I'm averaging one new customer per AutoX that I attend. I'll put you under my wing and coach you through setups/driving just like I currently do with 8 or so customers right now. You have the talent....

Thanks Demick,
I went back through and looked at where I would be in the list and it made me feel better knowing I beat Dave Darlings times To me, that is an accomplishment. Considering its my first AX in a 914, second total, ( I got to do 2 runs at the Mazda Rev-it-up) it makes me feel good. Seeing it in print would just be a plus.
I just keep telling myself that today's going to be the day that I beet my dad...
Never is..
Sigh.
If I had my 914 there on the other hand... then that would be a whole different story!!!!
Demick, Thanks for making this course, I wish there where more tight courses made, it makes for some fun throttle oversteer!!! (especially with hoosers up front and street tires in the back on a 944 turbo..).
Thanks
Andrew
What is fun class?
Several of the AX award winners were not present at the Awards Ceremony to claim their trophy. I have the following trophies and will see that you receive them right away:
Stock Class:
1st place: Darren Doud
2nd place: Nathan Breitling
3rd place: Benjamin Guyot
Improved Class:
3rd place: Rich Bontempi
There have been some questions about how we broke the cars up into classes. Below are the rules that we used to divide up the Stock, Improved, and Race classes. Most everyone answered an autocross questionnaire which asked the appropriate questions and I assigned each car a class based on that. These rules were posted at the registration table, but I doubt many people paid attention to them. At the Friday breakfast I had these rules and the list of all of the cars with their classifications and numbers that I had hoped to be able to display and discuss with anyone interested, but there simply wasn't time.
The rules are loosely based on the GGR car classifications, but highly simplified to only include a few key items - such as tires, engine, and weight reduction. Were the rules perfect? No. Could we improve them? Absolutely. But my goal for the rules was to only create 3 classes for competition based on a very simple set of criteria. Anytime you try and classify a wide varitey of cars into only 3 categories, some cars will be advantaged, and some will be disadvantaged. There is no way around it.
My other goal in the classifications was to evenly distribute the cars that participated. It doesn't do any good to have 3 classes when 90% of the cars end up in one of the classes. Based on the questionnaire, we signed up 20 cars in stock, 21 in improved, and 20 in race class. Couldn't ask for a better distribution than that.
In hindsight, yes, I would have changed a few things. But you can't change the rules after the fact to suit the results. On the whole, I think it worked very well and I would only make minor changes if I had it to do over again.
