914World.com _ Past Event Planning Threads _ MEI Project car?

Posted by: Vacca Rabite Apr 15 2009, 09:58 AM

Here is an idea, which may or may not be good, or even possible under event rules.

I'd be willing to let my car be a teaching tool in our area. I am sure there would be folks that want to know how to do valve adjustments, use a timing light, basic stuff that they may be paying someone else to do.

please let me qualify first that my memory is not the greatest, too many kids, wives, dogs, 914s, etc. have sucked my brain out.....
.....but I think I remember Rich Towle mentioning there being a problem with putting you vehicle up on a lift, or jacks....but that might have been for the autoX.

I remember something similar, but I thought t was for the AX day. Would not be suprised if it was for the show day too.

For all I know, they may not even want cars running unless they are coming or going. I just don't know.

It is pretty restrictive...

If you want, I will ask the Swap dude..chairman.

What do you want to do? You need jack stands?

Whatever would be helpful. Valve adjustments come to mind first, though my car may not be the best car for that since the marks are off my flywheel.

Setting timing (correct use of a timing gun) is something that comes up frequently in the forums.

As does balancing carbs.

Most everything on my car should be really close to right (except maybe my carb balance) but it might be a good teaching aid.
I have lots of jackstands... smile.gif
