Posted by: Jeroen Feb 28 2004, 08:21 PM

Hey gang,

I just uploaded the dedicated event website...

http://www.914world.com/westcoastclassic

All "planners" are invited to dig through it
Please proof read and make any comments etc. here

PLEASE DO NOT ANNOUNCE THIS SITE ON THE BBS YET!!!

Once we've gone over it and all is well, Jeff will make a public announcement of the site on the BBS

More event details will be added to the site later on

cheers,

Jeroen

Jeroen...its stunning. I'm drooling. I'm about to pass out. I'm delerious. The website looks fantastic. I will let it ride until tomorrow aftternoon, to collect any comments from others. If there are none (and I dont see any), I will make the announcement and post the link tommorrow afternoon. This will keep the momentum going. The excitement meter is pegged. smilie_pokal.gif

Muchas Gracias for your capable contribution. We appreciate your effort, especially in that we know you are under a major time crunch for other committments.

Check in when you return and we'll make the final additions to the website.

Hey Jeff,

Glad you like it...
This is the best I could come up with in such a short time

I'll try to find an internet café or sumptin so I can check in here from time to time
(2 weeks without 914world.com - cold turkey wacko.gif )

I liked you're write up (and it saved me a big bunch of time!), so thanks

cheers,

Jeroen

The web site looks great. mueba.gif
All we need to do is fill in some of the details when they are finalized.
Now that we have firm dates and a host hotel all the keys are in place.
People will be able to commit and make solid plans.

So is the Pruneyard the official hotel? confused24.gif

Holy crap, I worked til 2:30 am on the Alien, too late to check in this morning, crap, alot happened since I checked in last!

GREAT! I'M CALLING IN FOR RESERVATIONS! BRILLIANT!

I'll start a new thread here called "MAPS" I'll Make some maps and post them on the thread. If someone could move them to the web site from the "MAPS" thread that would be cool.

My only suggestion for the site would be to bump the clickable link up a type size or two. It will make it easier to figure out.

(for me anyway. I'm kinda simple)

Get that site up and make the announcement on the Board! I want to start bugging people about coming!

Rich - Here is an edited version of one of the maps I posted earlier.
I removed the potential locations and replaced them with an icon for Campbell.

Thanks to Jeroen in particular for hustling this page together and everyone else who has contributed....the link to the new event webpage has been posted on the BBS. Is it possible to creat a linked button at the top of the main BBS page with a link to the WCC webpage? Jeroen is non on vacation for two weeks and he had suggested replacing the Donate button with a WCC button. Can we also use the Event logoias the graphic for the button?

Help Sean...or one of the admins?

Posted by: seanery Mar 1 2004, 07:40 AM

Jeff,
that button is buried too deep in code for me.
I can nail and delete the old stuff, maybe I can get gint to help on the button.

Posted by: Jeff Bowlsby Mar 1 2004, 07:47 AM

Thanks Sean. Can you modify the thread subtitle and change it from ...'New Thread'.... to June 4-6, 2004 SF Bay Area?

I cant change the subtitle once its posted.

Nice website Jeroen! This will generate interest for sure. Can't wait!

Posted by: Jeroen Mar 3 2004, 09:45 AM

I hope there´s still room for me in the official club hotel, once I get back...

Can´t make reservations from here

cheers,

Jeroen

I had to sneak my say in here too... happy11.gif 'Cause you's guys didn't invite me. dry.gif

I sent Jeroen a PM in the event that he checks in again. I managed to get the button in the banner page, but it only appears to be used for the BBS and Calendar pages. Home, News, Classifieds, and 914 Info pages use a different banner page despite the fact that they seem to consist of the same elements.

Jeroen,
If you get a chance to read this or my PM while you're on vacation, can you give me a hint there?

gint, it's done already....go to 'moderation options' 'edit topic'

easy as pie.

Fixed the little bastard!!!! boldblue.gif

Don't ask me why the button in the banner for the above listed pages has a border. I don't even care. Time to move on to the next little crisis...

Posted by: seanery Mar 5 2004, 09:34 AM

it just needs a "border=0" and the outline goes away.

Posted by: Gint Mar 5 2004, 09:48 AM

Ahhhh... That wasn't in my notes. I just did a copy from them. It's in my notes now. Fixed it.

I may post a new thread in the Admins forum and ask why theses pages were laid out the way they are. They are customiztions of the IPB stuff and as such don't appear to be editable via the Admin CP. But maybe I just never found the right section. I dunno... I had to edit the header.php file in the includes directory.

The 914 official hotel is 10 blocks from my house in case anyone needs anything.

Posted by: Jeroen Mar 24 2004, 07:50 PM

Changed the layout of the event-site
Hope you like it...

Jeroen

The WCC event website is down? Help!!!

Posted by: Gint Mar 25 2004, 05:48 PM

It's not really down... some kinda funky DNS problems. I noticed this earlier today. If you use the IP you should be able to get to it.

I'm pretty sure I didn't do it
It worked fine last night and this morning

I haven't been able to resolve 914world.com from various servers today. Had to use the IP. Networking crap is not my strong suit...

Posted by: Gint Mar 25 2004, 05:59 PM

I justchanged the WCC 2004 Info button links to http://www.914world.com/westcoastclassic

So at least those work. You might want to change your sig Jeff. I know Brad (and possibly others) can't view images on the board that are hosted on 914club and aren't pre-fixed with www.

Posted by: Jeff Bowlsby Mar 25 2004, 06:03 PM

Done thanks you guys...

Posted by: Jeff Bowlsby Mar 26 2004, 07:51 AM

Nother question, got an opinion?

I would like to start a thread on the main BBS indicating who will be attending the WCC, in hopes of pushing anyone who is on the fence about attending, to sign up. I also want to not broadcast who will be here and where they are from, to protect their privacy. I dont want a clever thief to break into their house while they are gone for instance. So how can I do this?

List them by 914club name only? That info is already online. It would look like:

Boxtr
Bowlsby
914 GT

List just their name? The problem is that not everyone on the BBS knows people by their real name. It would look like:

Brad Roberts
Craig Laughlin
Steve Hurt

The registrations are already flowing in... cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif

Posted by: rick 918-S Mar 26 2004, 07:57 AM

Being from out state and not attending any 914 breakfasts or stuff like that. I only know people by their sign on.

Posted by: seanery Mar 26 2004, 07:58 AM

When I do the hat orders I use a spreadsheet that shows both everyone's real name and their 914club username. It works well for me that way.

Posted by: Gint Mar 26 2004, 09:21 AM

I think you make a good point Jeff. For 914club board purposes, you should only list their member name and not the full name. I don't want to see any one suffer hardship as a result of their full name being posted on a public forum as being out of town for a period of time.

Just my $.02

Posted by: seanery Mar 26 2004, 09:25 AM

Because some folks use their name in their username you could consider:
Sean L.
Jeff B.
Mike G.

or

S. Lee
J. Bowlsby
M. Ginter

the first option would probably be hardest to trace back to a person/address.

I'm completing the maps this weekend. If I post them here can someone resize them and move them to the web site?

Posted by: Jeroen Apr 1 2004, 05:53 PM

Hey Rich,

Will do...

cheers,

Jeroen

Posted by: Jeroen May 18 2004, 05:40 PM

I just added a sponsor-page to the website...

Maps will go up tomorrow

cheers,

Jeroen

Posted by: Jeff Bowlsby May 18 2004, 08:19 PM

Which maps? I am preparing maps for the event which will be distributed in the registration confirmation packets to be sent out early next week and for the event brochure.

Posted by: Jeroen May 19 2004, 04:59 AM

Rich made a couple of maps
different thread, check it out!

cheers,

Jeroen

Posted by: Jeff Bowlsby May 19 2004, 05:45 AM

The map of the breakfast location is good, but the map of the hotel lacks a little detail. Its not wrong, I just don't think it will help out of town folk to get to the hotel becasuye it doesn't show the main highways nearby. I would just post the breakfast location map on the website.
