Went to Barbourville yesterday. Think 914 stockpile. They have everything over there.....1.8 engines, teh camper-buses i *love*, BMW 2002s, and much more. Picked up the parts car with a title *YEA!*. EVerything looks great! I loved it. ANyway, I recieved a car with decent longs, no engine, an ACTUAL REAL LIFE battery tray(heh), a key and a passenger door handle. Looks great. I want to post pictures today but I don't have a camera, and my girlfriend will be pissed if i halt progress to take car pictures.....I'll get em'. Might pick up a 6 and tranny and make another 914 racer (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) Check you all later. I might just end up parting it out.....who knows? Congrats! It sounds like Mark and Dave took care of you. Did you end up buying the blue/oranga car?

did you buy that one that is authentic pink off ebay (i think)

if you did you definately should paint it pink again, and get a COA (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/happy11.gif)

then you can make it into a racecar, after all what kind of racecar is pink (not counting funny drag cars)

Oh, the pink one

thats the one....someone mentioned the "gulf" 914 (orange/blue)....that one was already sold. What i was going to do was take my crumpled front-end and put it onto the pink car. Then I could rough it in, get a little suby engine and tranny and go from there (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) It's gonna take a LONG time as I have zero money....

well what are the options....i mean would it be easier to get a 1.7 engine and tranny to put in the car or just start from scratch with a HD tranny and a chevy or suby engine....or a 911? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

okay you can go type 4 for 500 bucks ( maybe not a 2.0 )

or chevy for 2 to 4 grand depending on cooling and stuff ( RH radiator is a grand ) and you should upgrade the brakes for the car due to it gaining 200 to 300 lbs. plus a tranny, the stock one will be okay if your gental but the highway rpms will suck. or go 915 tranny for 3 to 7 grand.

or you have the 911 six option which can be 6 to 12 grand depending on deals found ( can we say trekkor ) and for the bigger sixes you get in to tranny and brakes again. but the tranny ratios will not be the best

or my favorite the suby option, a suby 2.2 130 hp on a stock tranny, installed for about 2 grand. then the brakes and tranny can handle the weight ( basicly the same ) and speed ( slightly faster top end, better accell ). or for another 500 you can get a 2.5 170 hp.

now for tranny you can buy a tranny for 200 to 1000 bucks and never realy know if it is okay ( better chance for 1000 ) or you can get 2 cheap trannys and do a redbeard rebuild and have some faith in the tranny

now all the above engines, even a type 4 can destroy a tranny if you are not nice to it.

i would say go suby 2.2 for 2 k or so, plus tranny. and be able to drive 10000 miles with just oil changes and check ups

it's on the title....color code 78 or something like that. fixing it to stock would be a nice option, except that I would need to get *another* front-end for it, as the pink front-end is going to be used. I suppose I could use red's 914 front-end and then just try to fix that....or for $800 i could get a front-end from a junker 914. this car was a 73, so it would have like 1.8???? I just know my 74+ cars. Pink though??????????Dunno about pink. I'd love to have another pristine 914.

73's have either a 1.7 or a 2.0 IIRC, 74's were 1.8 or 2.0

and 800 for a front end thats crazy should be 200 or so, heck you can still find none running complete cars for 200

That special order pink is extremely rare, maybe 1 of a kind. Unless it is too far gone try to save that in stock form if you can. It would be worth something for sure.

If it was a '73 it was either a 1.7 or 2.0.

well you can see the auction....I'm definately going to be using the front part to fix my other 914.....I have dreams of turning the pink car into something very cool. I'm not going to part it out. It's a spare 914. I'm going to cover it up and save it till i get out of college. I just dont know about pink, that's all. But hey, it could always still be a fun car. And pink is a one of a kind.

Hot Pink? Thats a new one.... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif)

I think it would be cool to see though...specail factory colors are always cool to see...

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) You REALLY need to rethink cutting the pink car up !!! Have you ever watched the Barret Jackson auction and seeen what a specialty paint code can do to a cars value? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/screwy.gif) You REALLY need to look into the authenticity before cutting that car. Yes it may be ugly (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/icon8.gif) BUT it may also be a one of a kind car. you could be destroying history!! Porsche history.Someone here has a front clip for less than 800.00 I gaurantee, find another clip and sell the pink car to a member or find someone to do it absolutely correct for you. Get it to V.A. and I may at some point! I might be willing tocut a front clip for you if you don't ruin that car, assuming it is a real factory paint. Think of the bragging you could do. " I have the ONLY factory pink Porsche, wanna see it? it will cost you $5.00 " (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

try 500....and if someone can get me a front clip and a rear decklid for less than 500 shipped, i'll give you the car. I dont think i would be destroying porsche history, as I would eventually restore it (obviously).

Just for clarification, engine lid or trunk lid?

I mean this thing (structurally wise) would be looked after to a pro....the body guy i have my body work done for knows what he is doing. Jaguar sends body work to him whenever they need work done. I trust this guy. I'm trading clips and then I am going to store this car until the summer when i can get what i need to fix the pink car. Destroying it would be to part it out and rip up the title. If the color is still around I'll paint it. The paint is shit AND it was repianted anyway (red). The only places that pink is still the color is in the longs. That's why Premiere couldnt seel it for more than 500. It's not original. At one time, it used to be pink, then somebody from some college bought it and drove it. so it's been sanded and repainted anyway.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) So whats your point I asked if you needed a engine lid or a trunk lid ? Paint colors are always available. Paint shop take your code and go mix the color based on the different pigment listed to create it. If your body guy is good then great, let him do it. I'm just saying I would hate to see a possible one time only color NOT get the proper attention. By cutting that clip off with the intention of restoring pinky, you are creating twice the work and twice the money. But hey it's your time and money. I realize you want the red car fixed now but I'm just trying to give you some experienced advice.I've been restoring Porsches for 12 years so I think I may know SOMETHING!
