OK so it's a little tentative while we work out the logistics.
i'm planning to go meet Qarl for dinner Friday evening while he waits out the storm passage in NJ. He's right at the intersection of I-78 & I-95. the storm will be through here tonight and the roads nice & clear tomorrow - so - what do you say? i expect we'll meet up at the Countyard Marriott and relocate to a restaurant if whatever's onsite doesn't pass Qarl's muster... oh - you do NOT have to own a Canary Yellow '70 914.6 to attend. |

i see that Miles has checked in on this thread, so i now have little worry of it falling off the first page before it loses relevance tomorrow afternoon...

yes. sorry that two people had to die to set up the timing, but everything workls out if you let it, i guess... here's how Qarl described it to me:
i will be taking I-78 straight over; i donno yet if Joy will be coming along; probably, but tomorrow is sahping up to be a weird day for her and it's too soon toi know... as a result, i don't know if i'll be in the beater 911 or the Subie. we're set up for 1900 EST-ish. i'll PM my cellophone number... |

Qarl's in charge of the entertainment and i donno exactly what he has planned, but since he's got people coming in from most of the surrounding states, i'm guessing he wouldn't wanna piss off -- ahh -- disappoint us *too* much :-) ... (in fact, i think he's not taking delivery until Saturday morning. prolly just as well. if *i* had it parked in a lot in New Jersey on a Friday night, i wouldn't get any sleep either ...) |

So what kind of place am I supposed to find? Place that serves good food and beer? Not sure of the selection but I have all day to figure it out I guess. |

just MHO - we're coming in from all over and are going to need a real good excuse to go very far. check out the house lounge affiliated with the Marriott or something in easy walking distance and it'll probably be just fine. some place that can be flexible with people coming and going without being part of "a party" and can be flexible about separate checks. basic. it's not about the gourmet dining experience, it's just an excuse to get together and lie about how fast and rust-free our cars are ... |

Guys...
I need to CANCEL Friday night. I am going to try and get home tomorrow night. The wife is sick. Roads are too bad for the Elise with the slick tires it comes with and I can't risk my life or the car. I am going to transport the car home. I can get a covered transport thorugh the Lotus club for about $900. It's worth it at this point. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the offer. I am really sorry and would have looked forward to bench racing. I have sent PMs to all that expressed interest. I only have Rich's number and I will try and call tomorrow. If you have each other's numbers, please try and call each other so we don't have anybody show up. Thanks. Karl |
