I would guess with almost 20K members in this virtual zoo, most of you don't know MrsK, our Birthday Fairy. That's ok. Let me enlighten you. She doesn't own a 914. In fact I don't think she has ever owned a 914. I suspect she has ridden in a 914 a few times though because her best friend when he was alive was a guy named Howard that owned a couple very nice 914's.
Lisa is her name, and she is a true sweetheart. She used to come to all the Southern California events, particularly NARP events when Howard was alive. Then, Howard died rather suddenly of a brain aneurysm. You'd have loved Howard. He was a true character. In memory of Howard, Lisa became our Birthday Fairy. She puts a fair amount of time into it. She researches to see if a member is even active. If they are active, she sends them an email greeting them on their birthday in addition to posting her Birthday Fairy Report for everyday we have members with birthdays. When I take over for her so she can have a weekend with her husband, I don't put near that kind of effort into it. You just get the Faux Birthday Fairy Report. My apologies. I have a request. Because of the love Lisa showers on us in memory of her friend and our 914 brother Howard, I'd like to see her Birthday Fairy Report get WAY more responses. We should show her the love she shows us. There are a core group of 6-12 of us who always respond but considering her love for this scoundrel lot, it isn't enough. Give it a minute and greet our Birthday brothers and sisters every day to show Lisa you care about her too. Thanks, Rob (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

But we don't need to respond when you fill in? Well as I said Billy, she does it out of love and in memory of her friend and our brother Howard. I do it because I wouldn't want to lose a treasure like Lisa and I want to support her by showing her that I care about the love she shows us. I've been here a long time and we've lost some incredible people. It's touching that she remembers him in this way. Respond to my Faux report or not, your choice. But I think her BD Fairy Report should have 100's of Happy Birthday responses. |

How about we all pitch in a few bucks, and see if we can get something nice for HER Birthday - a weekend at a spa, or something she might really like?

Very new here, in fact my first words. The Birthday endeavor sounds like a very noble cause. Hello everybody.

Hi Lisa. Thanks for what you do. You support the members more than most. When it's my BDay and others we do enjoy the report. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Thanx for the back story Rob, I never knew it, nor Howard.
I think it's only good manners to thank someone, & I always have tried to do so with her, even though I'm not part of the core .... errrr hard core .... here. Cheers to both Lisa & Our Faux Fairy! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Tom /////// |

How about we all pitch in a few bucks, and see if we can get something nice for HER Birthday - a weekend at a spa, or something she might really like? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) or perhaps take it a step further and pitch in to buy her a 914. I would throw a few hundred in (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |
