Melba (Toast) has some issues with her car, and unfortunately with Ron's passing (SLITS), she no longer has a good mechanic to help her out.

Wondering if there's some World members in the Las Vegas area that could lend her a hand making some minor repairs to her '73 914?

Mark,

If there isn't a member or old school aircooled Porsche Independent that comes up, then there is Gaudin Porsche's "Classic Center" - which is one of the handful of Classic Centers around the country, & they should have someone for aircooleds there, I would think. Of course, it would be Porsche prices though.

As long as she's worked there, I'm surprised they didn't put a v8 in it with spare parts.
Vegas racer lives there. Do we know what's wrong with it?

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) ... I was just trying to see if there was anyone closer to where lives that could lend her a hand.

I accidentally deleted the message she sent me, but I think the issue was electrical in nature. Her car has been sitting idle for about three years now, so it may need attention elsewhere as well. She really didn't go into a lot of detail (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Too bad she can't get it to Red Rocks Classic in September. Some of the best 914 minds in the country will be gathered in one spot.

Maybe the next event needs to be in Las Vegas?

I've got a better idea or so I think. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Let's form a Rescue Party like we did a while back for the other lady whose brother had passed. Forgot her name now. Since I thought of it I should be the first to volunteer. I'll need to wait until Vegas temps are reasonable. If she is still living in the same place there is room to toss a few sleeping bags. We can set a date if any locals there can advise me as to when Vegas drops back into the 80's. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Ron bailed my ass out of a few jams. I can damned sure make time for Melba's dilemma. I'll need a few other hands to join me. I can take one person with me as well. Who's up for the challenge? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Thank you, Ethan. I'll probably take my truck so I can can load up with tools and parts. No sense working in 100F+. Everything takes 3 times as much effort. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I spoke with her about an hour ago ... something to do with the ignition switch and the starter wiring off the top of her head.

Again, with it sitting for an extended period of time, there's probably a few other issues that could have developed. '73 2.0L with F.I.

I asked her to make a list of all the known issues ...

I'm going through some of the same issues, she'll be facing ... mine has been sitting idle for 2.5 years (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
