One of those wheel fans is worth triple his purchase price of the while thing.
Stole it ! Restore it and race it in vintage racing ! Good luck. |

The second link is 15 years old and does not mention any competition history or previous ownership. |

I did the research on the car and compiled the race history. I was able to track down the owners who raced the car in the '70s. I met with them last year and scanned a ton of pictures.
The car was restored at Ralph Meaney's shop in MA, that is him to the right |

it's currently condition is shown in the pictures in the advertisement.
As the story goes... Grady was paying to store the car indoors, the storage person put the car outside and then sold it for cheap while still charging for storage. Grady got the car back and was going to restore it but then he passed away. The current owner contacted me to research the car but has now changed direction so he has put the car up for sale. |

Here is a 10 month old post about it..
QUOTE I am that guy in Elizabeth. Sold it to a guy in Nederland about 2 years ago. He had bought most of Grady's parts after he passed. Which included the engine and transmission for this car. I have tons of pictures from when I was the steward of 9140430220. Matt http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...=331363&hl= |

I have wanted to share the story about how I became the steward of Grady's car for a long time now.
For about a year I had been driving by a house in a rural area seeing what looked like the back of a flared 914 sitting next to a barn. One Saturday I was passing by and saw that the home owner was working outside. I pulled over and asked him about the car and if it was for sale. He informed me that he was at the track racing other cars when a "friend" offered the car to him for $300. I just offered him what he had paid for it, and he trailered it to my house. Once I got it home I put that post on Pelican in 2004. I tried to do some research about the owner and the car, but didn't really find much of anything. Then one night a couple years later I received a phone call from Grady. Still not sure how he found my number. He was gracious enough not to call the police, as it turns out he was still paying for the car to be stored! They schmuck had even hit him up for the cost of a new car cover that year! Grady was just happy to know where his car was, and tried to pay me for the money I had spent on it. I had taken the Bilstein struts with S calipers on it and put them on my car to do the 5 lug swap. He found a set of complete struts for me and had me swap them back. I visited with Grady a couple times over the years and emailed him regularly let him know his car was still safe. Even moved it with me as we changed houses. After he passed away I reached out to the family to let them know I had his car and the condition it was in and asked what to they wanted to do with it. I was offered the car for a price I could not refuse. I was given two books full of pictures from its glory days, an amazing 20 by 30 picture of the car on the track, and three Rennenhaus posters. A few years later with limited funds and being busy raising my family I came to the sad realization that I could not and probably never would be able to give the car the attention it deserved. I decided it would be better off in someone else's hands. I reached out to the a guy that had bought most of the parts that Grady had in storage, including the engine and wheels that used to be on this car. I sold it in November of 2016. The condition of the car hasn't changed much in 15 years So after almost 13 years of storing Grady's 6, my barn was empty. I wish I still had her, but knew I could never give the car what she deserved. Matt |
