Back a few years ago this was an NLA chunk of rubber with a few steel plates that went for $2500 for a 40 year old part. I see now on ebay these have been reproduced by URO (shudder) for $150ish and wondered if people have tried them?
I was going down the sport transmission mount approach but would try this if it was any good. John |

John,
I recently installed on my original 914-6 the URO 914-6 trans mounts and just haven't felt like dropping the engine to install the URO front mount yet. Both the front and trans mounts are nice reproductions of the original parts. I'm pleased with the quality of the parts and the price. Time will tell on the wear properties.... Here are a few pics of the URO trans mount compared to the OEM one. It's obvious that the old one has compressed over the years. |

Read somewhere they are OK ,considering NOS on the original and huge prices for those still around...if they lasted half as long they would be alright.
Mine is NOS original I got as part of the existing conversion,so running that and 911 rear mounts, really not a lot of movement on throttle. |

I hear you Rob,
This would be an excellent product to make correctly. I'll check my stock . I think I have a good sample to work with. |

The reproduction trans mount is a 914 6 item...no voids and different part number. Just curious, do they make a 4cyl. too ? |

Yes, they make the -4 mount. Why buy it when the solid -6 mount is the same price? Weakness of the 4-mount was the holes in the rubber.

I haven't installed either mounts so I can't say how they perform. For the price you can't go wrong or until a better version comes out.. Hint Hint 914rubber... |

OK thanks all! I am not sure what my IMSA 914 was running when it raced back in the day. I wonder if it was common practice to use a more solid mount or if people just used the stock mount. John |

I hear you Rob, This would be an excellent product to make correctly. I'll check my stock . I think I have a good sample to work with. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Haven't you been saying you're going to make this mount for years? Point to even one aspect of our mount that isn't correct. Guessing that "good sample to work with" came in URO packaging, lol. Kind of like recent 914rubber control arm bushings, which look identical to URO's (even the end radius) but with a part number added to the mold at the flange. Back to the topic; URO has two versions of this engine mount, one with OE durometer rubber (914 375 049 00) and a Heavy Duty "Club Sport" Version (914 375 049 00HD) that's 30% stiffer. Options are always good though. You can even get new OEM mounts from Porsche Classic now, if you want a mount that's been made to exact OE specifications: Sunset Porsche Parts - Engine Mounting - Porsche (914-375-049-01) Attached thumbnail(s) |

I put the URO stock trans mounts in the good quality category. I've bought quite a few Chinese made mounts for other cars that were sufficient but the paint sucked or rubber peeled back and started rusting in months, or the fitment was slightly off making install a PITA.
I've gotten a couple 914rubber parts that were off, so there is no perfect supplier. Though that's a small percentage and the customer service is awesome. |

The 6 mount is certainly the better replacement choice. Porsche currently has electronically stiffened mounts that actuate when track mode is selected......to improve shift precision and chassis rigidity. Stiffer IS better. |

The reproduction trans mount is a 914 6 item...no voids and different part number. Just curious, do they make a 4cyl. too ? We do offer both types, but there really isn't much reason to use the semi-hollow 4-cylinder mount, unless the driver desires the smoothest possible operation. Attached thumbnail(s) |
