Regarding the discussion of whether black was a color option for MY 70, I consulted an English edition of Christophorus dated October 1969, No 83.
Said edition states that the 914 model was available in six standard colors.
blood orange
signal orange
Irish green
light ivory
Adriatic blue (914 specific)
lemon yellow (914 specific)

"Four metallic colors are also optional for the 914 range" according to Christo
metallic silver
metallic blue
metallic green
metallic red

Of course we all know that the factory did change things as a model year progressed, but I'd have to believe the Karmann build plate to be convinced that a color was "factory" when it isn't listed as a color option. Exception being the special color-to-order code on the Karmann plate.
