basic info 2.4 to 2.6 liter flat normally asperated. 900hp with 200 to 250 torque. Quote was $65,000 t0 $90,000 aud would use production based pistons and cyls so should be easily rebuild and low maintenance. 2 stroke design would it be illegal for track? Technically illegal for street but that could change. Sorry Racers but I am bored and Happy Holidays

I'm not sure I understand the post. Is someone attempting to build it? It sounds unrealistic at best.

I would think a twin turbo 3.0 would be cheaper and not blow up on the first day~

The guys that Quoted me have been building 3 cly inline 1200cc that have reliably 500 hp. this would be using their technology so 6 instead of 3 . the bulk of the cost is in the design and building the case. They have cnc waterjet check out two stroke shop aus if you have a few minutes

Sounds like a bomb. I'd rather use someone else's money to develop an engine like this not my own. So by all means go ahead. It'll be cool.

I am pretty sure it would be a big grenade and to do it right would take a porsche factory budget. However 2 stroke tech has come a long way from the ring ding ding kawasaki 750s and rds. If porsche had embraced the 2 stroke form the beginning then maybe we would really have something special

dr. porsche experimented with 2 stroke engines before the development of the horizontal 4 cyl 4 stroke. cant beet the power to weight ratio of a 2 stroke.

Can't boost a two stroke. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) Unless ... you add an exhaust valve ... That would allow you to pressurize the intake side. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) |

years ago, I tossed around the thought of a 2 stroke 911 engine with a guy that was
a crazy fabricator. There must be some 2 stroke piston/ cylinder set up from a motorcycle that could be adapted to a 911 case. Piston port set up that the intake comes in from the top of the case. Then taken a step further, figure out a way to use split roller bearings on the crank and rods.. Probably a grenade in the making.. But would be interesting to see what it reved like and what it sounded like. |
