May 25th at world famous Sonoma Raceway
7:00 registration 8:00 driver's meeting and course walk 9:00-5:00 event We'll start the morning with a driver's meeting that will cover format, objectives, course description and basic safety. A group course walk will follow with pointers and approaches to controlled and quick driving. We'll divide the drivers into two groups that will work on each portion of the track during the morning. This will allow each driver to become very familiar with all of the features of the course one smaller section at a time. During lunch, any participant that wishes can enjoy a 20-30 minute parade lap session on the road course. ( low speed/no passing ) The individual portions will be combined to create one large, typical a/x track. Each group will alternate back and forth between "run and work" for the remainder of the afternoon. Workers will maintain track safety and replace hit cones. Plenty of opportunity to drive and learn. Coaches will be available as time permits for advice, demo rides and ride-alongs. Get close to a season of seat time in one day! This is not a competition event and no official timing will be provided. $75 for each driver. No charge for passengers. Continental breakfast and water included. Trekkors event at Sonoma is really an autox dream. You'll get as much seat time as you want and if you take advantage of instruction, so much the better. Highly recommended. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif) |

I might be able to convince the wife to bring her Genesis coupe turbo out. I'll report back with my findings (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I have a motorcycle helmut that is at least 10-yr old. What snell rating do I need to join in the fun? I did some auto-x in a hot hatch back then but never tried it in a 914.

They would like to see an SA 2005 or better helmet, but I think we can sneak an SA 2000 in.

I have to agree with Randal. Trekkor's events are well run and some of the best one day seat time you will get to develop your driving skills and tune the car, if needed.
I have seen plenty of folks poop out before the day is over due to the amount of course driving time. Mark my words, you will be dead tired, from driving so much, when the day is over. It is THE single most autocross drive time event you will ever get. Get out there. It is a BLAST!!! |

We open registration late for this event and attendance is light.
This should prove to be the ultimate seat time opportunity. Walk ups are welcome. KT This post has been edited by Trekkor: May 17 2013, 09:05 PM |
