Gas Pedal

So a couple weeks ago it was noted that the 914 gas pedal was NLA, but a 911 one would fit with some modifcations. I looked online and they are $65 to $85. So having just taken one off the parts car I'm stripping I decided to take a look at it today because it was raining and I couldn't work on the V8 car.

First I washed it with a degreaser and then scrubed it with a soft brush to remove any grease or dirt that would be attached. Then let it dry. The pedals rust from the inside out because Porsche didn't use stainless or plated metal parts inside the rubber it's coated with. It's basicly a strap hinge that angles to the right with a rubber coating. Simple.... (famous last words)

So I spent a rainy day looking for hinge manufactures on line to see if I could match the hinge part. After about the tenth manufactures site I know a lot more about hinges but I couldn't find a match. A lot of them offer custom services but I probably don't want to order 10,000 pieces to sit on for the rest of my life.

The upright part of the pedal is a rubber coated piece of metal. The metal part has stamped ridges in the midle running half the length of the piece and it has formed edges. Both of these features add strength to the part so it dosen't bend when stepped on.

I have some ideas as how to make these but it will take awhile before I can.
