The last set of pictures I took during a visit to Shelby's shop June 9, 2007. The car is now up on jack stands since I sold the Pedrinis to a fellow 914 owner in Louisiana. Car is pretty much sanded at this point. Body looks smooth and has a more aggressive look now.

These pictures were taken on September 15, 2006. The car is now in primer and as you can see, Shelby has applied the blocking coat, the black "tiger stripes", to help her find any low spots in the body. It was at this point in time that I asked Shelby if she would just keep the car through the winter, working on it as time permitted.

Well, quite a bit of time has passed since I last posted an entry here. So, I thought I'd give a brief update and post a few more pictures. These pictures are from 2006 so you can tell I've not been very active working on this blog.

These shots, sent to me by Shelby, were taken around May 19, 2006. They show my Bahia Red 72 taken down to bare metal since the old paint was DEAD! You can see Shelby has begun cutting the fenders to prep for the installation of the steel GT flartes I bought from Brad Mayeur.

Shelby, a 914World.com member has often displayed some fine paint jobs on the club web site.
I'm quite excited to see the transformation of my Bahia Red 914 into a GT look-a-like sporting steel flares, GT front valance, GT flared rockers, a rear spoiler and a fresh coat of Jaguar Racing Green.

I called Brad to tell him that I bought the 72 and to thank him for his help in finding it. I then arranged with Brad to have him bring my 74, minus motor and tranny, back to my place and to pick the 72 up and take it to his shop. I wanted Brad to install my 2.2 liter as well as the side shift tranny from the 74 into my "new" car. The pedal cluster was rebuilt as were the front and rear brake calipers. I also had new Kumho ECSTA HP4's mounted to the Pedrinis.

The 72 was completed in about three weeks and my wife and I drove to East Peoria to pick it up. During the three and a half hour drive home, I noticed that this car was without a doubt faster than my 74. The same 2.2 liter motor was now powering a much lighter car. The 74 had dealer installed A/C and the heavier reinforced doors.
