Got the car moved over to a friend of mines garage to finish up the job. Be damned if we didn't find a good size crack that showed up underneath where the thermastat mounts to the case. So most of the day was spent today getting that crack tig welded. It been welded and fixed as on now. So got the engine back to the garage and put the flywheel and clutch disc, pressure plate installed. Tomorrow will mount the tranny to the engine, have to wait on a new mini starter to show up before we can install the engine and tranny back into the car. Disassembled the engine that was in the car.... Found a few problems. The mount for the oil filter, the ball bearing thats inside the mount, the seat that it sits into was more than half way out of its place to be seated at an angle. Found a couple of fins on the impleller (3) were missing and looked that they had busted off not very long ago. After taking off the engine tin I found 1 of the impleller fins sitting on top of one of the heads. Man am I glad I took this engine out of this car and got a good look at what was up with the engine. The cam an lifters are toast.

The crank and rods look good, pistons and cylinders look good, gonna bead blast the heads and search for any cracks that might be there, otherwise the heads look good. The case is being cold soaked and then magnafluxed to look for cracks. Looks like this engine is ready for a rebuild.

I had a good day today, had some friends help me and we got the engine and tranny out of the car. All went smoothly without any hassles, I like that. Got the tranny seperated from the engine also. Tomorrow it looks like we'll be installing the new engine and getting it setup to fire it up... The scary part in now approaching fast (starting it up for the first time).. I forgot to bring my camera along so tomorrow I will bring it an take a ton of pictures.

Started today on getting the engine and tranny out of the car and installing the new engine back into the car. This is my first engine and tranny drop, everything is a first for me. Got everything disconnected on the topside of the engine, now working on disconnecting all the stuff on the bottom side of the engine. Got me a cone screw on the rear end that doesn't want to to budge. Got one side of the CV's disconnected. I have to move some stuff to get the other side disconnected.

Well today I got busy on the engine build again. I got the pistons and cylinders mounted. Got the heads and the head tin mounted and installed. Tomorrow comes the pushrods, lifters, and the pushrod tubes. Will install the oil cooler and start putting on the engine tin. Will post some pics of the progress tomorrow.

Yeah,,,, got my heads back from Rimco and picked up my flywheel from the machine shop today. Now I can finish the assembly of the engine. Some pictures of the heads, had new springs, SS valves, new seats and guides, any cracks around the SP holes fixed. So now I'm itchy to finish this motor and get it installed into the car.

Finally got around to getting a back cooling plate for my alternator. Thanks Joe Richard, I got it yesterday, cleaned it up, then I powdercoated it satin black and mounted it on the alternator. Looks good.
