Spent some time getting her ready for the 1st annual NorCal 914 Festival this weekend. I have been swamped with other stuff and my car has just sat, sadly. I wiped her down, put on a coat of wax, aired the tires and connected the battery tender. 20 minutes later the light turned green and off came the tender. I love the master power cut-off, my battery seems to never lose the charge.

Tomorrow I will clean the windows, vacuum and that will be it. Should be a fun Saturday event and I am also looking forward to the Sunday event at Niello Porsche in Rocklin, which is about 15 miles down the road from me.

She wears Palma Green?

My /6 conversion will hopefully be shot with L95K this season

lookin great BTW

....while I didn't really DO anything to my 914, I drove down and picked up my newly refinished 14" magnesium Cromodora wheels. If I can find a "before" pic, I'll post it, but they were pretty rough. I had a company called Premiere Wheel Repair in Marietta, GA. refurbish them. Went with a shade close to gunmetal. IMHO, they knocked it out of the park. Now I just have to find the correct lug nuts....I THINK they may take a washer as well.

Rebuilt my headlight buckets. Adjusting it took about 10 espressos. Nothing is straight.
While not perfect, my nerves are shot. Everything works fine--adjustment tonight.

I spent today driving a twin engine Jeep Grand Cherokee from home to Huntsville Alabama. We are going to install
Rusty's new motor tomorrow and Sunday. I head home on Monday.

Finally got the '73 running after an engine swap (highly modded type 4 from my '71) and addition of a 123 distributor.
Just in time for a summer of triple digit temps... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Now my body shop boys need to get to work on my '71 which is getting a spa treatment and work necessary for a 6 conversion! Attached Image

Finished up fixing and refinishing my ground effects and bumpers. It all started because I wanted to make a center outlet for my new exhaust I built a couple weeks ago, and turned into doing everything…lol. Took two full days of Sanding and wire wheel to get the coating (whatever it was) off of them. Painted them black and flattened the clear a bit to get semi-gloss. Very happy with how they turned out.

That looks like MSDS header…if so, they are built very well and sturdy. Took a bit of persuasion to get it all lined up and the collector on all the way. You DEFINITELY have to sand off ALL that coating where the 4 pipes go into the collector ( the pipes exterior, and the internal sleeves of the collector). Also, as I’m sure you already know, you will need to flat file each of the 4 pipes to get a perfect surface for your copper gaskets to seal. I torqued all the bolts down after I got it all in the first time, and then I pulled the entire header off as one piece. I was able to see where the pipe wasn’t scaring the copper gaskets, and then I filed the high sides down until the copper gasket was sitting level. Once you sand off that coating, use a little grease to coat them and then you’ll have to use a weighted rubber mallet to get it to seat all the way down. If you need anything else you can give me shout and I’ll try and help.

Oval’d a piece of 2.5” pipe to fit where the X pipes were cut off. It is now 2.5” round so I can plumb it to the header. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Nice!
That looks like a Monza exhaust. That is what was on my car when I bought it. Spent about 20 hours restoring it and heat coating it. Now I’m not going to use it because I built the stainless borla exhaust for it for better flow with the 2056.
