Well good to be back. Jiust too busy with my new-to-me Concours '84 928 S.

After supper I drove my sweet (still running like new) 914 about 50 miles in the twisties west of me, and never cease to be amazed by this car. A delight to drive every time.

So here's what's been distracting me: Sold my mint '81 Guards Red 928 5-speed to good Porsche friend who lives close by. The color and I could not clash more.

I am amazed at the 5-speed '84 928 S that the good Lord dropped on me: a Concours car with about 50k miles on it that looks and drives like new - and in my colors. Quartz Grey Metallic & burgundy interior.

Kept my rare Club Sport wheels from my '81 928 for this car.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/hosting.photobucket.com-21449-1751158722.1.jpg)

and 2 videos at Richmond's biggest car show here:.

Do I love my 914 any less? Not a bit! Two vastly different but amazing Porsche's owned by a guy who loves Porsches - and variety!

Yes. Thanks. Timeless design I believe.

While 914's and 928's are in many ways polar opposites, I love them equally.

I am so blessed to have and enjoy driving both. The 928 when pushed to its limit is smooth and surprise-free. Not unlike the 914.

Put my 914 on the lift and bled the brakes today. Was some softness on first hit on brakes that disappeared on 2nd hit. Saw no bubbles or air, but hoping to eliminate the softness that shouldn't be there on first hit.

Both my 944's and my 928 have wonderful rock-hard brakes and so should my 914.

In many ways I enjoy driving the 914 the most. It's the most visceral - no power, just you and the road connected very physically and intimately by the 914 machine.

Today I was able to finally reinstall the new rear suspension as well as rebuilt my pedals.

I went with Bilstein and the 914 rubber 100# springs. Torquing those axle nuts is no joke, glad my friend has a wrench that goes that high I can borrow or else I would have been in trouble. I did it without the axle itself attached so hopefully I dont have trouble when its time to install the axle to the flange in the hub.

On the Celette jig - the front torsion bar mounting on the offending corner is 35mm higher than that on the other side... We have the technology.

I was able to spend some time in the shop today tackling the broken off bolt in my suspension console. I have spent hours and hundreds of dollars on drill bits and other stuff working on this broken bolt. Today, I finally was able to get it through. Now I can get the suspension on and get it off the lift. Victory is Mine!

They are a handy tool for this task, I have checked mine twice ,once before last carb teardown and more recently ,you will need to recheck when your engine is running however ,not sure with webers as mine are zeniths but you should be able to tweak the float tab to fine tune them if your valve sealing washers are the same thickness .
Its a tiresome process to do but if your carbs ran fine previously just leave them.

Ouch ,appeared to be a fairly big hit ,that would explain the bent front closing panel ,looks like you are in the hands to sort this ,cheers.

I re-hung the drivers side body piece from the rafters. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
I took it down to spray foam the underside of the roof. MUCH cooler now.

Hi, for Koni yellows some fella spoke with the koni folks and
this was the info they gave him. Plasti-Kote - T-29 School Bus Yellow.
For the bilstein yellow The closest I could find was Rust-oleum Golden Sunset

The blue Bilstein is paint so I masked over the blue and yellow in that area and painted. Pretty close, close enough for me.

Tonight I spent more time cleaning out the nooks and crannies using a pick and air compressor with a air gun. No wonder these cars rust. Sheetmetal overlaying sheetmetal.
Lots of places for water to get in. I was thinking of using seam sealer to infill some of it.

As I said, Sunday I bled my brakes for first time in couple years to get rid of elusive tiny air bubble I knew were somewhere, using 15psi pressure system. Found bubbles in left rear caliper and today found tiny bit of squoshyness is gone.

Drove Ruby about 80 miles todaydoing misc. thing in over 90 deg. heat where the fresh air helped but I missed A/C.

Loved the drive nevertheless.........

Always forget to get pics.......
