Ouch ,appeared to be a fairly big hit ,that would explain the bent front closing panel ,looks like you are in the hands to sort this ,cheers.

Fortunately I am - Steve Kerti is one of the UK's top two or three Porsche restorers and a long time friend.

Work continues - the front end is now pulled into shape. Aside from the 35mm vertical misalignment, the whole front end had also been shifted over by 25mm! Temporarily fitting the original steel hood confirmed all was good. (the seemingly wide gaps either side of the hood are amplified by shadows). Work now begins on cutting out the rust we discovered alongside the turn signal - Steve made the repair panel from a flat piece of steel. Just wish I had his skills...

Drove it to work today! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

This is a test run for NEG6 next weekend. If the trip home goes as uneventfully, and the weather cooperates, we'll be taking the 914 on the adventure!

Edit: adding pic:

I replaced my fuel pump and filter and several below the tins fuel lines. Then I fixed some fuel leaks...

The front hood of my 6 is completely wrapped as are the front fenders. Over the past year I noticed what I would call "stardust" when looking at the hood and fenders. Looking at the rest of my car, the paint was perfect. It was just the clear-bra. I went to a new shop I found about 6 months ago that does clear-bra (PPF) and window tinting in Roseville, CA called Saturdays Auto Shield. 1101 Plumber Way, Suite 105, Roseville, CA. 95678, 916.415.8468. Branson looked at my hood and immediately told me it was a defect in the PPF, and he has seen a couple of cars with that issue.

Now, Saturdays is a shop that has earned my business for the work I have seen on other cars in their shop. Additionally, they are right next door to a Paintless Dent Repair shop that took a small soft dent out of my deck lid following my engine swap.

My brother had taken his Turbo S coupe there because he had an extremely small soft dent on the rear quarter near the taillight housing. As that "dent" was being removed, Branson walked over to say hello and introduce himself. He then walked around the 911 and asked if we would mind if he cleaned up some of the PPF. We said, "Go ahead". He took his time and went around the car, spending about 40 minutes, and the final result was a nice improvement on what was already a very good job. That PPF was done by a different shop, before we had discovered Saturdays. Bob asked Branson how much he wanted for his time and work and he said, "Nothing, glad to lend a hand."

That's a bit of a long story to say we have found the 2 shops we will use for PPF and PDR for as long as we are driving.

Now, getting back to my Six, Branson and his wife Sabrina asked if my car was done in XPEL film. I told them it was and the job was done in August of 2020, right when I began driving the car after the restoration. They suggested I contact XPEL and see if they would warranty the PPF. I thought, "what have I got to lose?" I reached out to XPEL and sent them a picture of my car, 2 pictures of the hood showing the "stardust" and included copies of my XPEL warranty card and the invoice for the work. I told them I would like to have the PPF replaced by Saturdays. XPEL got back to me right away and asked me a couple of questions about how I take car of the car and if it is always garaged or not. Following my answers they told me they would warranty the material and the labor. I thanked them for standing behind their product and told them that is why all of our cars have XPEL PPF on them.

I called Saturdays and scheduled my car in on June 30th. I just picked it up this afternoon and I could not be happier with the job. Branson is a perfectionist. He removed the warts and antenna. He fully wrapped the hood, fenders, headlight covers, eyebrows, fog lights, headlights and he did the A-pillars, door edges, door cups as well as the inner fender lips that always get rock damage.

I drive my car as some of you know so this level of PPF allows me to relax, as much as I can, when driving. This August will be 5 years my Six has been back on the road and we have covered about 12K miles. It would have been more miles, but my car was down for about 9 months when we did the engine swap, oil cooler upgrade and seatbelt update. Special thanks to Greg T. and Chris @TygaBoy for their beautiful work.

OK, here are some pictures- hopefully you can see the stardust that prompted the replacement of the PPF.

OK, these 2 pictures show the stardust on the PPF:

These 3 photos show the finished job. (Sorry about the poor lighting - that will be addressed soon.)

Hot here but needed to do something. So finished up the engine lid just as it hit 100 F

I would never guess there was plastic on the front. @Cairo94507

@Shivers - I felt it necessary to have PPF on the front of the car for a couple reasons:

First, Kent Simmons did such a beautiful paint job, I knew I had to do whatever I could to protect it since, I knew I would be driving it.

Second, as pretty much all of us know, our cars are low and with all of the road debris out there, poor road conditions generally and as heavy as traffic is, a lot of junk is constantly being thrown in the air by traffic, some of it landing on our cars.

PPF has come a long way since the first car I had it applied on. XPEL, which many consider to be one of the best films available, is basically invisible. When my car is out and I am talking with people, they can't believe it has PPF on it.

The days of the black vinyl bras are long gone. Although, I do have a full hood bra that I got from Chris @TygaBoy that will probably be hung on the wall of our new garage as a reminder of what once was. I might even put that on for long road trips just for the nostalgic look. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Just need to get a system perfected to spot weld some pins I made from roofing nails on to the grill material. It almost worked last time, but it popped off when forced.
Now a bunch of sanding, will not fit in the blasting cabinet.

After attending WCR, I installed the SPOKE LED rear brake, signal and front signal lights in my six. (Conversion). It was so noticeable on the drive, I realized how bad I needed to do it, and they were sitting in a box on my shelf for a year.

My Independence Day installation. Go Merica!

@Robarabian - Great work getting the Spoke LED lights installed. It is amazing the difference between stock and LED. Now, if you have not got one already, maybe consider a high-mount LED 3rd brake light to complete the package. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) It's always Something: WTF:
My 914 has been sitting all winter and yesterday it started up for the first time with no issues. Today I put insurance on & went for coffee/muffins at the local gathering. The 914 ran perfect then I learned the headlights switch didn't work when I got home?? I noticed yesterday when checking everything out the headlight switch was a little slow lifting/lighting up?? Now looking for a hard to find 914-4 2.0 Light Switch. Any available??

Summary: I fell in love again with 914 and my long time restored garage queen.
I restored it in the late 90's with more than 2,500 of personal manhours, plus machining service by others. I rebuilt the motor 5yrs after completion to increase horsepower using Jake Raby new LE-180 Porsche 914-L Replica heads with Jakes RAT # 9550 Camshaft plus the original build with counterweighted crankshaft (lost 4#) & loightened clutch fly wheel Plus a serious blueprinted assembly by Primo Petrussi (local VW) expert.
Today's drive listening to the Triad muffler and the strong 2nd gear into 3rd. put tingles down my spine. More another day, now back in the garage looking for a light switch.
Tom

Yes!! It is in progress as well... the car had a rather unorthodox one when I got it, and I found a nice replacement at the LA Toy and Lit Show.... very soon.....

Got to get the Bumblebee out today. Time slips away too fast. My -6 gets driven more than the Bumblebee as the -6 needs to come out of the garage to get the Bumblebee out. I think the last drive in the BB was last fall. Car sat too long and a fuel injector cracked and needed to be replaced. After replacing it my wife and I in the BB and my son and his buddy in the -6, did Alice’s for lunch. I stopped and grabbed this photo on the way home as I was passing by the service center the lot was pretty empty and since it is a new service center the black top is fresh. I need to drive it more often as if it sits too long the injectors seem to crack at the plastic seams.

Have you tried removing the headlight motor relays in the frunk and cleaning the contacts? I had the same problem and traced it to a poor contact between relay and plug.
