New Tires 195x65x15 that fit perfect. I n my opinion this size tire compliments our 914 factory look (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif)
Also washed it first time since last year, dirt & grime gone. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)

Tom, on the road finally.

V-belt replacement
After my original V-belt had been doing its job since 1993, it was time to replace . I knew it was going to be bad. Removal was easy, special tools were still there but the belt was not longer available. Finally I found one and off I went. After a few setbacks, one shim fall into the engine mount, but it worked. 9,5x710

Suggestion: Changing the belt is much easier with the engine out. Drop the motor and do a valve adjustment and belt replacement at the same time. You get an oil change thrown in for free. Plus, you get to re-torque the CV joint bolts and inspect the shift linkage bushings for deterioration.

This is a once a year task for me.

Fan belt is too narrow, sitting to deep in the pulley!

My brother and I took a trip to see Chris @tygaboy at the Red Barn. Chris once again offered up his fabrication and welding skills so my tailpipe would be a proper tailpipe.

I have a Dansk Sport 2-in, 1-out muffler on my car but it came with a rather large diameter tailpipe, approximately 2 3/4". That was not the problem for me... it exited the valance straight out the porthole. A stock Six tailpipe exits the valance with a downward slope and angled to the outside a bit. Then the chrome finisher with the nice square shoulder goes on for the proper look.

We removed my valance and muffler and Chris began to do what Chris does. The end result was a proper tailpipe that in all likelihood, flows better than the tailpipe Dansk had welded on.

It was a lot of fun seeing how the sausage was made and seeing Chris work his magic.
The end result was beautiful. All I want to do now is get the muffler ceramic coated, but that won't happen until a large project my brother and I are working on is completed. I will post photos of that soon enough.

For now, here are some photos and a big Thank You to Chris.

Here is a photo of how it looked before - sorry for the terrible picture but hopefully you get the idea:

And here are some in progress shots:

@Cairo94507 Always happy to help and thanks for the kind words, Michael.

For anyone who may be interested, I'll be covering the details of how I did "Michael's Muffler Mods" (or should I call it "Just the Tip" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) ) as a chapter in the next episode of the Ferrari 914 build.

Painted the floorboards after getting rid of some surface rust, after the paint dried I installed new sound deadening and my seat to just see how that fit together since its been apart for a number of years. I also replaced the rear window seal/tape. And also installed a GT engine lid. Having some fitment issues there and need to figure it out but a successful day today. Oh also installed the pedals!Attached Image

Got to get the Bumblebee out today. Time slips away too fast. My -6 gets driven more than the Bumblebee as the -6 needs to come out of the garage to get the Bumblebee out. I think the last drive in the BB was last fall. Car sat too long and a fuel injector cracked and needed to be replaced. After replacing it my wife and I in the BB and my son and his buddy in the -6, did Alice’s for lunch. I stopped and grabbed this photo on the way home as I was passing by the service center the lot was pretty empty and since it is a new service center the black top is fresh. I need to drive it more often as if it sits too long the injectors seem to crack at the plastic seams.

Great looking Bee and great photo in front of the Porsche dealership!
The pic makes it look like you've got some significant negative camber at the rear wheel.

Peachstate PCA Concours sponsored and held at Ellis Porsche with a few special vehicles up in the main lobby, including a 918 Spyder, a beautiful 356, 911-993, and boxster spyder and my lowly 914 up front and center!! getting some practice at the spit and shine, lost out to the spyder due to loosing points on my front headlight lid alignment, but perfect scores for my engine compartment and front and rear trunk area, only lost 2/10th for “oxidation on seat rails” . I’ve done this only 2x - ours is very laid back and it’s a lot of fun, get to see many beautiful cars and get to know people since i’m new here.
I have to say the 914 is getting a lot of attention and love, many questions complements and lots of pictures!
Not sure how i can perfect the alignment of my headlight covers, and my hood does not sit down flush due to the thickness of the trunk seal so those are my next goals, but really door gaps and pop up headlight gaps were not perfect out of the factory, like new cars have today.

any suggestions on getting my hood to sit flush with same level as the head light covers
i’m opening to suggestions.

Phil

oh and before anyone comments , in the picture i did t have the hood pushed down and latched so that not what im referring to, my hood does sit up about a 1/4” higher than the head light covers covers maybe it’s the seal…

Hi Phil: I first looked at your thread you have a link for. I see the whole front of your hood and not just the lights are effected. I went out and looked at mine. There is no adjustment on the hood part of the latch, but I see a way but I do not know if this will work for you. There are three bolts that hold the latch in place, if this was my car I would slot the holes on the latch. Shouldn't take much and then you'll have an adjustment to correct the gap. But it isn't stock.

hey thats a great suggestion for it to latch tighter, but yea that pic shows it not latched on purpose, i need to take a picture of the hood when latched maybe i can do that later.
the front edge is ok but the side pushed up from the seal around the light bucket
